The Games Workshop Thread

I think it is time we had a special Games Workshop thread in here where we can post what we've done. :) Anyone can post their pics here, this isn't just for me to show my works like threads in Creative Arena usually are, so post pics of your models!

Here are my most recent ones.

The Nightbringer

whp02.jpg

My Necron Platinum Destroyer Lord so far

whp03.jpg

Necron Tomb Spyder. Changed my mind on the colours but I wont paint over him, though the other Tomb Spyders will be black & gold.

whp04.jpg

Necron Gold Lord with Resurrection Orb. I'm quite proud of the detail on the Orb in particular.

whp05.jpg

Chaos Ork Warboss work in progress. Who says Orks can't be tainted by Chaos? I reckon Khorne in particular would take a shine to them, & so my small Ork force will be Chaos Orks of Khorne. I'm not going to dick with the rules though, they'll play just like normal Orks, only redder. :D

whp06.jpg

Necron Immortal. Not sticking to this colour scheme, but I wont paint over him. Other Immortals will be black & gold.

whp07.jpg

Necron Warrior. This is the colour scheme my entire Necron army will be based upon.

whp08.jpg

Same model again.

whp09.jpg

Softer focus sexy shot.

Tomb Spyder at a more dynamic angle!

As you can see, I'm no amazing painter, & the high resolution photos really show that up. I'm pleased with them so far though. :)

I remember enjoying painting my Warhammer stuff. I collected Wood Elves back in the day. Didn't like the 40k stuff much. Shame most of my figures are lost and/or broken otherwise I would show off my Forest Dragon.

EDIT: I found it but it is missing both its wings and its tail

EDIT: Found tail and a wing but still missing a wing and its tongue.

These days the vast majority of Citadel miniatures are made of injection moulded plastic, not like back in the day - bring back lead! ;)

Games Workshop's own paints are somewhat overpriced acrylics, but seem to do the job better than any third party acrylics I've ever tried to use myself. A lot of people undercoat with spray paint to save time, but I don't have the space or ventilation anymore - and I can never get a decent finish using a spray paint anyway.

I really need to get painting again. Sad as it sounds I think I'll have to set out a schedule for my free time, to make sure I do all the stuff I want to...

I'm basically the same as you then, but thing is, I'm really greed and I want to do it all =D

I used to be a HUGE Warhammer fan. *reads Ayase post* Respect to the lead.

My dad's garrage used to be my workshop for me. Like Ayse, I no longer have the same ventilation as back then. Plus, the models become very time consuming and I can no longer spend the time on them. I will always be a fan like.

I'll post a few of my better models when I have time at a later date. :p

I'm sorry to say that my paint jobs are quite crap. I love playing Warhammer but painting is not my thing, simply because I'm bad at it, so I have many Tau models that haven't even been assembled yet since it feels like a chore to build the bloody army. Here's a bunch of prototype colour schemes I painted for my Fire Warriors, as after two years of starting this hobby, I'm still trying to decide what colour to paint my ******* units (Slowpoke is sloooow).

I used to collect LOTR stuff. S'all in the loft now. I enjoyed the painting rather than playing but it was an expensive hobby...now replaced by anime XD

I still collect numerous armies, got Orks, Imperial guard and just started Eldar, then in fantasy Dark elves, Empire and Skaven. I got in between 40k and Fantasy (I suddenly like one and then hate the other, probably something to do with my autism), though Skaven are always my favourite army, I just love crushing my enemies under their weight of near endless numbers, the little rodents they are...
But I enjoy putting the most, just getting out the plastic glue and making such varieties and then practising creative colours schemes (Me orks are the blood axes and they've all got a variety of camo colours) I'm not so much into painting though being that me hands aren't all that steady when using a brush, even with years of painting so many models.

I paint GW models at work while on night shift, passes the time and I love the detail on some of the models, will have to get some pics as I have just finished painting an Imperial Valkyrie and an Imperial Bane Blade

Man, this brings back memories. From like 12-16 I did nothing but play Warhammer. True my painting always kind of sucked, but I loved playing wargames. I remember taking part in several events and went to games day 4 times. Sort of dropped out of it when I got into writing at 16, (and some of the rule changes put me off) but I still hope I'll get the inclination to get back to it at some point.

Finally gotten around to taking some nice photos of my models. Here are a few of my favourites.

Grey Knights Grand Master
Looks a little bit like Patrick Moore from GamesMaster I think. :)

This is my masterpiece, my proudest creation. I built this because I wanted to use a Tervigon/Tyrannofex in my Tyranid army, but no model exist for it yet, so I made one. I deliberately made it unique from the Tervigon/Tyrannofex artwork, in case they did make a model for it one day. I name this the ARACHNOFEX. Kinda fitting, huh? Also, note the extra pair of eyes on the head.

Callidus Assassin
Grey Knights Dreadnoughts and Purifier Squad
Iron Hands Chapter Master
Iron Hands Librarian
Iron Hands Captain and Command Squad with Drop Pod
Ironclad Dreadnoughts
Dreadnought with a GIANT SMASHY HAMMER OF DOOM

Nice job on the GamesMaster Mutsu! He looks great.

Christ... yet more reminders to get started painting again. Nothing has really changed since my October 01, 2009 post on page 1. I packed all my GW stuff up when I moved and haven't got round to unpacking it yet. Anyone know a good way to strip paint from the metal minis? Some of my old ones look embarrassing now and I'd like to repaint them.

Whoa, seriously? Quite impressive, I must say.
