Oh...My. I seriously want that Haruhi box set, where can i get it. Tell me NOW! wonder if the dvd has english subs.

You can order it from UP1 for about £30. (This is only volume 1 of 4) Yes it does have english subs and a dub too. Check this for the details of what you get on the discs. http://asosbrigade.com/oplet01/ (If you can make head nor tail of it?)

From what i can understand there are going to be seperate volumes for the tv broadcast and normal broadcast. TV broadcast if my favourite. I'll have a look for this UP1 later and see if i can order it, i love Haruhi.

The tenchi one would be this;

Has every single Tenchi release in a hand crafted box. Also includes a towel and a photo art book of around 500 pictures i think. If you can find a set they usually got for around £500

That Tenchi set looks fantastic. Was it a Japanese only release?

Apart from the Mai Hime box which is superb, I really like the collectors box that came with volume one of Basilisk. It’s a wooden box with a guillotine style opening and came with a scroll (that I’ve never opened). The only thing is, I can’t fit the scroll in the box now I have all six volumes.

Here’s a picture of it. It looks a bit better when full.

From the details i have on the box set it's a 25 disc dvd set. Only 1000 were made and they sold for 100,000 yen. Every disc apart from the two bonus discs either have the english dub or subs on them.

9. Bonus Disc 1: Tenchi Muyo Live- Big Tenchi Festival '94 (Japanese Stereo audio, no subtitles)

10. Bonus Disc 2: Tenchi Muyo TV Pre-launch Party (Japanese Stereo audio, no subtitles)

were the discs that contained no english sub/dub.

All the dvd's were Region 2's. This is what came with it;

1. A special high quality Paulownia (a special wood) Art Box that's hinged to contain the entire set!

2. 2 Pewter paperweights: Azaka and Kamidake

3. A special Tenchi Muyo 10th Anniversary Wrapping Cloth

4. The Tenchi Muyo! Tenchi Roku - an 80-Page Art Book containing conceptual art sketches, DVD and CD cover art, staff credits and more!

And obviously all the series and films spread over the other 23 dvd's. One of the best boxsets i've ever seen and i would love to own it, But it is seriously rare.

The Ghibli boxset is something i love too (the real one, not your ebay knockoffs)

Also has anyone dealth with UP1.co.uk before? I think i'm going to preorder the Haruhi Special Edition but i don't know if they are reputable.

i use them most of the time, usually they're quite quick, but they don't update thier in stock list till after the last copy is sold, so even if it says instock doesn't 100% mean it will be.

looks like an order will be getting placed tonight then for the Haruhi box set :D now to wait until may :(

I want the Tenchi box set too but i haven't seen one onsale for months.

edit: now ordered, just hope it turns up ok. Does anyone know the release date all it says on up1 is may.

I've had a FLCL box set on order from up1 for weeks now despite it being 'in stock' on the listings but to be honest it's a pretty special edition thing so I'm being patient! Most of the time their service is very reputable indeed.

send them an email
Yeah, I'll wait until it gets to 28 days after I placed the order, then make a polite enquiry. I've found from past experience that's the best way to go - decent online shops such as UP are invariably very helpful. My box set is still listed as 'order placed':
What does "Order Placed" mean?
Your order has been accepted and is waiting on stock.
I wasn't even aware that the box set was still available but it looked so irresistable I figured there was no harm in trying - sometimes stuff goes out of stock after you place an order. I've had that happen elsewhere in the past. Again, they're very nice about it and send an e-mail of explanation.

check the US release date and it's usually a week after that

I do shop at UP1 and very reliable. I got my manga so quick in just two days and there was a problem once and they emailed me and I called them and they were very helpful... those were very interesting boxes

I got my Basilisk boxset from there and had no problems whatsoever.

Not the main site I use, but they stock a lot of stuff you can't get anywhere else, so I definitely keep them bookmarked.

Oh, and when it comes to box sets, I love them!

I like buying a box set once a month or so when I get paid as a treat, and I buy one single volume of anime a week. It's a good way of keeping myself sane.

I love the art and just everything about box sets, and it keeps everything together, compact and lovely and sometimes you get little extras with them, great things they are.

i just thought i'd post pics of the My-Hime Vol7 Special edition box in this thread.
i already posted them on another topic, but thought it'd be more suitable here.
