I've become immerse into the hype Bandai Entertainment has put into their site, lately. I've been checking AoD for the latest updates from people and finally, today, we get something from our waiting and their teasing.

Bandai Namco Holdings has announced today that Bandai Visual USA will be wholely absorbed into Bandai Entertainment Inc. This change-over is the parent company's response to changing market climate and the need to evolve to meet the changes as well as the emerging next-generation format market.

Bandai Entertainment Inc will take over all licensing duties, marketing, and planning and distribution of packaged products in the North America region. The company will continue to pursue simultanous releases between Japan and America for relevant titles in the form of packaging production being handled in Japan and so forth. To this end, all share values in Bandai Visual USA will be transferred to Bandai Entertainment Inc.

Bandai Visual Japan announces that starting from 1st July 2008, Bandai Visual USA will cease operations. The Honneamise label in the US will continue to be used by Bandai Entertainment Inc, and they will continue to strive for worldwide simultanous releases to maximize product value around the world.

Now, That's extremely, extremely exciting to hear.. It could mean so many things, But we'll just have to wait and see For now, though. I'm just waiting for the upcoming licenses from Bandai Entertainment, soon enough.

So does this mean no more dubs?
Naww, It would amount to things like cheaper releases of BV titles, More titles closer to the Japanese release and such, I think. Bandai Entertainment get access to all of the BV licenses (sola, Gunbuster, super awesome mecha madness VXI, etc). Two companies merging, More possibility of HD releases and the like. Its quite big R1 news.

We've yet to see what will actually happen, though. More information will be getting released over the weekend and the upcoming weeks.

Given that Bandai Entertainment will be taking the lead I would hazard that it may well mean more dubs since it was Bandai Visual who rarely produced dubs for their titles.

Problem is if they get too close to the japanese releases, I.E. 1-2 episodes per disc for approx £35. They have tried it in the states before the have been suprised with the poor results.

I hope your right, I was always worried Bandai Visual were gonna get the rights to an anime I really wanted to see and release it only subbed.

Fingers Crossed :D

Potentially awesome news. Would be fantastic if BV anime got slapped with BE prices and episode numbers per disk (though I'd be surprised if they didn't as they'll have control over distribution etc).

i hope that the dubs continue and the 4 eps to a disk continue aswell because if they release sub only ill just get fansubs because im not paying for something i can get for free

It could even potentially mean that they could dub Galaxy Angel Rune, or wouldn't they consider it, since BV already brought it out subbed.
And the same agian for other BV subs

Had a chat with Andrew from Beez, who was inder the impression it was the other way round. US Bandi taking over Japan Bandi. Leading to more simultaions releases and more Blu Ray anime... Interesting.
