Tales of the Abyss 3DS sales could lead to more localisation

Despite receiving little advertising and very little in terms of distribution, the sales of the 3DS port of "Tales of the Abyss" were apparently so high in Europe that Namco Bandai ordered multiple print runs and are considering localising more "Tales of" titles in the future.

Don't we already get most of them? Albeit in pretty limited numbers. Why didn't they ever reprint Vesperia :( I feel such a **** for ever selling my copy when I was low on cash, thinking I could buy it again later...

Funny you should mention Vesperia, as The Hut Group stores have, out of nowhere, had stock this week (and people on forums have reported that they've actually been posting them). The game is now "usually dispatched within a week". Some reasonably priced new copies have shown up on ebay as well.

Vesperia is of course on Games on Demand for £20 if you don't care about owning a physical copy.

Wow I didn't actually know that. I mean I'd rather have a physical copy but tbh that's a much better deal than £50+ on ebay.

I've just put in an order at zavvi, see if it shows up within a week. Totally didn't realise it had gone back in stock anywhere... If they don't pust I may well opt for games on demand. Thanks again for the heads up.

Maybe they will release Tales of Vesperia over here for the PS3 now....

Did that version add some extra characters and plot etc? I remember seeing a trailer for it once with my JP PS3 account...

Are we getting the Vita version of Innocence? I would quite like to play Hearts too. On the localisation schedule we're on we should be getting Zillia the end of next year I guess...

The way they release on different consoles really confuses me, you think they'd make way more money releasing on everythign instead of doing exclusives and releasing a bonus content version a year later...

To more localisation? Well in some respects it already has. We've had Tales of Xillia confirmed for release here, and there was a rumour floating about that the confirmation also included Xillia 2 which is in development at the moment, but it's hard to say. Regardless, we do have more Tales of on the way, which is nice. So if that is due to the success of abyss, i'm quite happy with that, i will say.

This is definitely good news, and yeah they should do another physical print of Vesperia, but seeing as it's now up on Games On Demand I'm not so fussed.

And as far as I know we don't get a lot of Tales games, Vesperia, Abyss, Xillia, Graces and I think Symphonia are the only ones I know of.

Was just playing tales of Eterina on my psp. This is great news for all jrpgs fans really. I think that the Tales series is one of the best rpgs series around.

Far as I can see Tales of Vesperia did get recently reprinted since stores seem to have them now in stock and also the prices have come down, I remember early this year hunting for a copy early on this year for my new Xbox 360 which I got the game for £45 new.

Since the recent announcement of Tales of Xillia coming in Europe late next year, things are looking good and I can only hope Tales of Innocence R makes it over here and I'll purchase a Vita.

So overall this is great news as I'm a huge fan of these games and cannot wait to get my hands on the Tales of Graces F special day one edition :D.

I have been playing tales of graces since i got it from america and it is amazing. Just you wait Duskin you will love it!

I had a go of Tales of Graces F today while it was on at the Manchester Expo, now I can't wait for it to be released!

I pre ordered Graces a while back. Loved Eternia and still have my GBA copy of Phantasia as well as Vesperia, Symphonia and Symphonia: Dawn of a New World. Glorious fun.

I haven't been able to preorder yet, and have had other things on my mind. I should be getting a bonus this month though so I think I'll be preordering it from wherevers got the best deal on the S.Edition :)

I wasn't as big on Symphonia as some, but I really really enjoyed Vesperia (I think partially down to Yuri's humour and also him being a bit of a rogue), and am enjoying Abyss although Luke is a bit annoying at times, I did prefer Yuri. Rita was also very funny in Vesperia; I think the humour was one of the things I loved about it.

Edit: Graces Special Ed ordered

You know aside from Tales of Symphonia, which was so epic it could have had my babies, I really dislike the Tales series, especially Tales of the Abyss, that game just went on, I got bored of it well before I completed it.

Nah sorry, the Tales series is one series I could live with Japan keeping to themselves. Unlike Final Fantasy Type-0...The selfish bastards.

I guess it's pretty hard to localise being quite so big a game. Not to mention would they release it as a download when it's so big? Or 3 UMDs on a dying platform?

I agree with you a little about Tales though, it isn't the best JRPG series out there, but it's a lot higher in quality than most.

Japan have had it for over a year, I highly doubt that we are. As far as pound-hour value, you definitley get your moneys worth, too bad I find that most of it drags, I'd almost be better off paying someone to play the games for me. Only Xenoblade gets away with going on seemingly forevr because that was like the best game ever.

I still need to play that, it and Lost Story have been sitting on my shelf forever because I keep forgetting about them. I really dont get through my console titles as quickly as I should.
Not being a PC elitist or anything, but I just seem to spend more time on those games easily.
