The new film from director Mamoru Hosoda (The girl who leapt through time and Summer Wars) Director Mamoru Hosoda will be screened at the London film Festival.

Synopsis: Hana, a student at Tokyo University, is intrigued by a mysterious man who sits in on lectures despite not being registered to attend. Before long, they fall in love and she discovers that he is a wolf-man; he has the blood of both man and wolf and, as wolves have been extinct in Japan for many years, he is the last of his kind. Before long, they bring two children into the world - Ame and Yuki - who begin to display wolf characteristics, and as such may need to be brought up away from the outside world. As they grow older they will have to deal with their differences and decide which path to take. This beguiling, lyrical anime is a departure of sorts for Mamoru Hosoda (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time; Summer Wars) who takes a fantastical idea and makes it irresistibly touching and relevant without ever becoming a mere genre piece.

Really looking forward eventually watching this! Loved his previous films.

England have more chance of winning the the World Cup than this being shown at a cinema near me (most likely be festival screenings only like is normally the case).

Somebody better say they've licenced this for the UK soon. I will buy it, but don't make me import it.

A previous SLA lineup actually did a roadshow and brought several of their titles around - Wolf Children is in the line up for this year, so hopefuly their roadshow was successful and they will do it again maybe next year?

Considering that Summer Wars and The Girls who leapt through time appears to have done really well (with both of them deserving the Bluray treatment and all), I'm well convinced that Manga will get it when they have the chance.

There are various rumours that Kazé got the rights for the Italian release, so probably they got them even for the other European markets they are in.

Excluding Ghibli films, about the only anime that I remember being shown in Derby in recent years are Akira, Sky Crawlers and the first GITS film (around the time when it got a bd release). I think Tatsumi might have been shown as well but thats about it. While I would like to see Wolf Children shown here I don't have high hope for it or any of the other films shown by SLA.

Considering the cost of cinema tickets and travel I have no intention of going to Nottingham or Birmingham to see any of them if available either since if there are any films shown by SLA that I am interested in (like Wolf Children), I will get them when they are released on blu-ray anyway.
