Studio Ghibli: Porco Rosso this Thursday on Film4 at 11am

Hayao Miyazaki's sixth feature film tells of the adventures of the titular "crimson pig", a heroic flying ace in the Adriatic in the years after the First World War.

It is on Thursday 7 October 2010 at 11am on Film4. If you miss that showing it should also be on Sunday again on Film4 on 10th October at 3.15pm.

Guys. Just wondering, is it really news when Ghibli is on TV anymore? :p Have you explored the idea of simply putting upcoming films into the DVD release schedule? (Though that's kind of out of the way in the layout)...

Studio Ghibli films or Anime films for that matter are not that common on Free to Air TV. The last Studio Ghibli film on film4 was near enough a month ago.

TV listing don't go that far in advance maybe up to 3-4 weeks, while DVD's there are listing for releases up to over 6 months in the future. So adding them to the DVD release schedule would be unworkable.

Also If I mentioned this screening when I first saw it a few weeks ago, by the time its aired people would have forgotten that its even on. Better to announce closer to the date so it stay fresh in people minds.
 
Porco Rosso is probably my favorite Ghibli film, then again I only like about 3 or 4 of them. Pity its at a rather annoying time. Sunday maybe though.
