Steamboy UK DVD delayed until 2006

According to Play.com, the UK release of Katsuhiro Otomo's much anticipated new movie Steamboy has been delayed 6 months until the 30th of January 2006! This news comes hot on the heels of reports that the UK release of Steamboy was going to be an English language dub only release.

Also, it should be noted that Play.com are now listing the art-box edition of Paranoia Agent #1, due out on the 4th of July. Limited to just 1,000 copies, it is suggested that fans pre-order and avoid missing out.
 
With this delay, I can only hope that Columbia Tristar decide against doing a dub-only release, otherwise it's importing all the way for me.

Also, it's cool that MVM aren't charging more money for their Vol. 1 and art-box editions. Makes it an easy decision, I will definently be buying this.
 
Wondered how many posts before someone brings up the "better not be dubbed only" thing.

I would be more worried if we didnt get the DC version.
 
Of course people are going to bring up the dubbed-only issue, it renders the UK release of Steamboy useless for me and the fact this has happened to one of the highest profile anime releases of recent years is a double blow.
 
When this was first announced wasnt there due to be a dub only (with the dub cut of the movie), and the sub edition with longer edit?

Shame to hear about it being pushed back, but I dont think Columbia Tristar would do this unecessarily, as they have treated Tokyo Godfathers & Memories very well. Still gonna wait until I get a full breakdown of what Columbia Tristar are doing with this before I pass judgement.
 
All form an orderly queue behind cd-wow's Madman import! It's Region 2 and reportedly Dub and Sub, and it's out in a matter of days. Don't think there's much option...

Odd. I had heard CD-Wow were shut down and under investigation or something. Must have been some other company.
 
i must admit that i was disappointed by the fact that it was a dub-only release, although my tolerance of dubs is a little higher than most.

it is a shame about the delay, but if they altered the date to fix that very same problem, i'm all for it.

my copy of paranoia agent #1 special ed is on preorder. :D

Doesn't really matter if you're desperate anyway - you can order direct from Madman's site.

I can't find Steamboy in their catalogue, though.

IIRC the same thing happened with the UK release of Princess Mononoke. Although there, for some reason, apparently we got dubtitles anyway. *shrugs*
