Spring 2008 Anime Preview Guide

Thousand Master
Rather than post multiple new threads for each of the new shows I'm trying out this season going to lump them all into one thread and quickly goiong through the lot of them
To Love Ru- Fan service of the most common order. Jiggles, pratt falls into said jiggles, and 'commedic' violence (but only cause it's women wacking men). Will probably drop like a sack of spuds.
Kure Nai- Different take on what i've see in the manga. Starts at a different point, but with roughtly the same characters, also a bit more serious and dark (in mood and lighting). However very watchable.
Kanokon- ... okay. Fan service show with fox ears, possibly harem as well. Yeah, yeah see it all before. Except not quite. What makes it different is that some shows seem to have two people who like each other , but it takes them over half the series to admit it to them selves, and the rest to admit it to each other. Then it takes another series to get them to hold hands. Not with this show, not even half way through the lass has the lad on the floor and is pulling down his pants. This aggressiveness isn't what you normally see in anime women so will keep this one up (though probably not for very long)
The Tower of Druaga Are we sure this isn't linked to some tie in game? While the first episode was a piss take of every RPG, fanatsy anime in existence the second was much more down to Uruk. Thing is it seems more like a class based RPG or MMORG. While not bad it's standard Gonzo fare.
Blassreiter Yet more pure Gonzo. A Frankenstein's monster cut from other shows, a bit from Bubblegum crisis, a snip from ghost rider, a chunk from Guyver. While it has potenial, as with so many Gonzo shows, doubt it will live up to what it could be.
Vampire Knight- Bishi vampires by the bucket load. Not my cup of tea, but aparently changes in a bit so will keep with it for a few more episodes.
Macross Frontier- gimme more, NOW!
Code Geass –Lelouch of the Rebellion– R2- Afraid Sunrise will do a Destiny on this and basicly repeat the plot of the original but adding in more characters so none get the time they deserve.
Soul Eater- Want to like it but, something bugs me about it. Voices, lack of difference from manga, ... can't put a finger on it. Hopefully it will pass though.

I've got Soul Eater to watch for the lulz and Vampire Night, might get To-Love-Ru since I remember reading a few chapters a while ago, it was bad. But not all bad.

you do relalise it is based on a old mega drive game yes? :D

Well I am going for a few:

xxxHOLiC Kei 1000x better than the 1st season. The story is now moving and at a good pace.

Code Geass First season was cool, hopefully Sunrise can make this one cool too.

Macross ... Don't really know why but I saw the first episode and it looks promising.

Ones I would have watch, but can't because I am at my semester at uni.

Soul Eater Reminds me of FMA and FLCL and a dose of Bleach put together. Since its Bones I expect it to be only 52 episodes and probably the anime is going to go its own way similar to FMA.

To Love Ru Animations seems shabby, but their opening was kind of catchy and the manga seems decent. I just hate xebecs so much ever since they did'nt treat Negima! well and I have not watch a xebec's anime since. Last xebec anime that was decent was Bottle Fairy.

Itazura na Kiss is another one to watch out for - good old fashioned shoujo romance at its best.

Special A could also be mistaken for a sequel to Ouran High School Host Club, so if there are any fans, take a look.

Is it bad that I'm really enjoying Kanokon?

I've been watching Kanokon. It kind of reminds me of Inukami (which seems like it'll never get a DVD release). Episode 2 peeks any amount of fanservice/ecchi I've ever seen.

It's entertaining.

I'm liking the look of Macross and Code Geass is a guilty pleasure. I'm trying to watch Soul Eater but the opening episode has left me a little doubtful, hopefully it's worth sticking with.

Well out of the new series of this season, i've watched:

To-LOVE-Ru - As i read all the of the manga so far i thught i'd give it ago - 7/10 - Too ecchi, Could be alot better, I hope it advances in on the plot & characters backgrounds as it has in the manga.

S.A/Special A - Watching it because one of my friends recommened the manga a while back but alas i've yet to pick it up - 9/10 - I want more already, The animation is simply brilliant!, I was watching then thought which anime company brings us this & when i checked it was 'Gonzo', So it's no suprise the animation is brilliant.

Code geass R2 - I'm watching this simply because the 1st series was epic win, Though i hope some clich'ed anime **** doesn't happen - 7/10 - i want more answers etc... (people who've seen it will know what i meen).

Plan to watch:

Vampire Knight, Soul Eater & maybe Macross.

Few more
Wagaya_no_Oinari-sama- Two kids targeted by a daemon make a pact with the families fox spirit guardian to protect them. Not quite sure how this one will be, but it seemed a bit too light while trying to take itself seriously. Not funny enough to be a comedy, not dark enought to be a drama, too weird to be a slice of life just kind of meh.
Neo Angelique ~Abyss~ - Reverse harem. Take one lass, give godlike powers and every type of bloke, complete with sparkles, to drool over. And a cute kitty who turns into the aurora borealis. Dropping like a sack of spuds.
Kamen no Maid Guy- Hmm Think Mahoromatic, but with two maids. One is elegant, quite and well mannered (when she isn't carrying a bat with nails), the other looks like Blanka (from Street Fighter) in a maid outfit. Why? Kids are being targetted cause they'll inherit a fortune when they turn 18. May be fun to wathc, but not a keeper.
Allison and Lillia - Kinda retro, and not just the clothing and tech (modeled on the 30's), but the art direction, colour scheme and character designs as well. Plot is you average treasure hunt and foster world peace. May keep up with it for a bit.

Also seen the next episodes of Kure-nai and Macross Frontier dan definitely keeping them up.

Soul Eater - I'm not expecting anything stunning but it looks pretty fun. The fight choreography is really well done. This looks to be one of the few shounen anime worth watching, and probably the most watchable/promising anime this season.

Code Geass 2 - Does seem to be another solid start for this anime. Everything is rather confusing though. I guess things will get explained in the next few episodes (like how Lelouch has a brother).

Kanokon - I'm in it for the ecchi. >_> Well, at least I'm honest. I've seen people give it high praise, but I know they're lying.
Ryo Chan said:
Gotta say, i love how people are looking negitivly at Code Geass after a whole 1 episode :D
Yeah. I think people want to dislike it because it's popular. The first season is actually one of the few solid anime of recent years.

Very short explanations of what im watching right now lol.

Itazura na kiss is a very wierd romance, although at the moment i think its quite funny. Some of the situations that the characters get into do make me laugh quite alot, which is kind of why i am liking this series.

Kamen no maid guy - Now this series is a must watch in my opinion (Unless you really hate fan service). The comedy in this one is so strange and so far its looking awesome!

Kanokon - First episode and the girl already has the guy on the floor confessing her love and ripping his pants off... again another one that you shouldnt watch if you dont like fanservice. Started off very well in my opinion and i cant wait to learn more about the characters.

Kure-nai - I dont really like dark stories and such usually but for some reason this one has caught my eye. Not entirely sure what it is that i like about it, its just... addictive?

Soul Eater - After hearing about this one a few months ago i am so glad its finaly released. The first episode looked great and i hope they keep up with the same greatness.

To-LOVE-Ru - Another fanservice series but is very funny in its own sense. Finding it good although im not 100% sure where the plot is going to go, so i geuss i have to wait and see!

Tower of Druaga - What to say about this series... The first episode was... well... strange? At first i had no idea what was going on, i thought that the first episode was the entire story and they had just done the entire thing in one go. Not sure if i will continue watching this, but im going to give it a chance.

Wagay no Oinari-sama - This series was recommended to me by someone i know, and to be honest, i have no idea what to expect now. I was hoping for a comedy series, just random battles and such, but it seems to serious. I dunno, it may get better.

One more thing to add. Is it me or is the fanservice getting to an all time high this season! They aint just mucking around with a few panty shots and such, they are going all out.

P.S. Wasnt feeling well when i wrote this so there could be some spelling mistakes.

The Heir of Twenty Faces/ Nijū Mensō no Musume- Gentleman thief steal stuff from bad rich people (and exposes their crimes), kidnaps/resuces Chizuko form evil aunt and uncle. Retro looking (80's ish), but Bones so going to continue it.
Himitsu_-_The_Revelation- CSI get a machine that allows them to load a dead persons brain into a machine and access all their memories. Tries to be serious but over does it to the point of cheeseness. Will pass.
Mnemosyne- Immortal private detective looking for missing cat stumbles on suspicious pharmaceutical company trying to achieve immortally. Adult... very adult, lots of kinky situations, and parts that verge on, well, guro. And if you don't know what that is oyu are lucky, lucky $&*$%$'s. It's sick. Show however is fun enough to continue
Crystal Blaze- Another private detective (this one's mortal thought), but who's cargo is a woman who turns into glass in a burst of flame. May keep up to see wtf is going on.
Amatsuki- student gets ultimate history lesson after flunking History exam. Gets sent to past where daemon spirit attacks him and he looses an eye. Meh if there's nothing else on.
