Soul Eater

Baka Ranger
So.. One of the most anticipated anime of this Spring season is finally out and I have to say it was brilliantly excellent. It ends in a somewhat cliché fashion but I adored every minute of the show. I got a eerie "Gurren Lagann" feeling from it, even though the only thing relating it is the demographic. One of the character's sounded exactly like Viral, I checked and it wasn't him, though.

Moving onwards, The world created is visually extremely appealing and actually looked massive (Similar to Fullmetal Alchemist, in that respect). The mains are hilarious and somewhat endearing. I can see a lot of mishaps and epic battles happening with them. Its nice to see a female protagonist (albeit with a boy) staring in a shonen fight anime without it being fanservice and nosebleeds, Although some of the latter do take place.

Its something very abstract and for me, Lived up to the hype I gave it.

What're your thoughts?

You're probably getting the GL vibe from the soundtrack, both series have music composed by Taku Iwasaki. Just from the trailer, I could tell this would be the one series I'd unconditionally love and looking at that screenshot above confirms it for me. I haven't even seen the first episode yet, but seriously, anime that looks this stylish can't fail.

That must be it, then. One of the eye catches had the full-on "ROW ROW, FIGHT DA POWER" feeling to it. Also; I just checked now, The artists for the Ending credits are the people whom perform "No Boy, No Cry" probably better known as the 6th Naruto OP. It is extremely reminiscent of that. I might start listening to some of their music, actually.

Saw the episode last night, have to say it was worth the wait!
This series lookes awesome, seriously cant wait for more episodes. BTW Is it me or do the Moon and Sun ROCK! They are so awesome haha. Oh and Grim is the best character at the moment, hes so funny :p

Afro Samurai.

Anyway, it does look interesting. Apart from Golgo 13, this is the only series I'll pick up (I'm still debating with myself about Code Geass 2).

Saw it last night and ... not sure yet. I was really looking forward to it ( as the boards resident Bones fanboy), but not sure about Maka's and Soul's voice and, though it may sound like a strange complaint, it's too much like the manga. They haven't really done anything new, and while i'm sure this will change it's just kinda like re treading old ground.

Animation, music and opening and ending = Win

Conept and characters = Fail

Conclusion: Watch for the lulz

Will add more detail soon.

Stance Punks.

Stance Punks and T.M. Revolution...? Pretty good.

That moon should go see a dentist! (Bleeding gums are never a good sign )

I haven't seen the episode yet, though I'll admit it looks crazy in a way I like. Hope it's got some kind of substance to it though. I'll check it out for myself soon enough.

After watching the first episode I have mixed feelings but I'm not ready to really say whether I like it or not. The animation is great and the design is wild, but I don't really care about the characters or concept much. Yet.

At any rate, I didn't hate it so I'll give it a chance. I'll give it time and see where it goes.

Seriously love this show. Watched the first episode twice now :p (Second out of complete boredom, and i couldnt sleep).

Cant wait for more episodes to come out!

not to mention it's yet another shinigami anime
Yeah, I don't see why so many are getting made. I'm guessing it must be the current obsession in Shonen stories. Everything has to have some mention of a God of Death, somewhere otherwise they aren't cool, srsly. I wouldn't link SE to the regular Shinigami stuff, though. It seems somewhat more based upon the Western beliefs of what a Grim Reaper would be like. I guess it'll stray even further away from the normal Shinigami thing, as well due to the fact that the real story hasn't started yet.... apparently.

hmmm am i the only one on the forum who can't stand the animation
I think I'm one for more ...obscure character designs. Half the time I don't understand where people are coming from when they say the style of odd. Its strange. People say they can't stand the One Piece style yet I find that quite a puzzling thing since they obviously watch cartoons and I can't say a kid with a body like this is exactly normal. ;p

I'll be wondering for years to come... ;p

I watched the first episode today, seems good though Ill have to watch a few more episodes to see if its worth watching.

BTW Whats the differences in the Late Night version?

The Late-Night version is like watching a directors cut. You see doodles and randomness from the BONES Studio messing around. As far as I know, That's the only difference.

Also, I'm yet to watch 20+ But, I loved the filler/comedy Excalibur episode 17, I actually laughed. BONES love Excalibur. And, And, And, this new arc has set things up very shonen-esque. The battles are starting, and can't really guess how far it'll go. Whatever it'll do, it'll be "cool" in doing it.

I imagine we'll have another opener, soon. I'm not bored of TMR, yet, though.

I have to say this show has gotten a lot better over the last few episodes. Around episode 20 things really pick up.

Episode 23 has got to be my favourite so far: Stein's fight with Medusa kicked ass! Particularly liked the way Medusa sprayed arrows everywhere instead of blood when she got sliced in half.

Just finished watching episode 25, its been brilliant all the way so far, and by the look of things, it seems to be keeping to the manga even past the half way mark, which is a good sign. I had feared that possibly since the manga is still ongoing, they may move to a more filleresque second half of the season, but it doesn't look it as of yet. Justin Law turned out basically as i pictured he would, Mjolnir seems about right as well as Azusa
