So I'm planning to buy a 360

Lupus

Baka Ranger
And I need some advice, besides the fact that Premium is the one I'm going to get. I just need some basic details on it, and would you say it's actually worth me getting one? ;O

All comments are welcome and appreciated. I also do plan to go online with it, so yeah.

its definatly worth it. ive got all 3 (between me and my dad anyway) and the 360 is used the most. ALL the good games appear to come out on it, and its a dream. ive had no problems at all and its used nearly all the time. a brilliant console :D

When going to buy a console, its always about what games it has.

All consoles that are out this generation are worth a buy.

If your planning to play online a fair bit then getting a 360 is worth the money.

I'm totally bias because from the getgo I've thought the XBOX360 was ugly, and it also makes a loud, loud noise. All the time. But really, Since everyone raves on about it. Its about the games - Personally, ninety-nine percent off the games on there are FPS' and they don't interest me in the slightest. The Playstation 3 isn't really doing all that much either. Its got a number off interesting games coming out though. So I'm partcially looking forward to them. FFXIII being one. ;p

I would say, Get a Wii. You have one off them though... Possibly, Get another? Or a "gaming" Computer.

Ive found the 360 worth while, its got some sweet RPGs like Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata and Lost Oddyssey is soon here :D It'll be worth it dont worry about that :p Im not a big FPS fan, and I still find loads on there (DMC4 :p)

They say its noisy but I can never hear it, maybe my tv is loud? And then people say its full of shooters....which it is, but theres still some great games that aren't shooters. My cream of the crop via genre is as follows:

First Person Shooters: Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4, Gears of War
RPGs: Eternal Sonata and thats pretty much it :)
Racing: Project Gotham Racing 4
Action/adventure: Devil May Cry 4, Assassin's Creed, the Darkness (ok its a shooter but its full of action :) ), kameo is good if you've never played it
Fighters: Dead or Alive 4, Mortal kombat 3 (arcade)

There are overs but not really worth mentioning, these are the games I've had the most fun with. Only draw back about the xbox is, it'll prob break in couple of months, although it took a year for my first xbox to break and my second hasn't broken since, had an xbox since release which was 2 1/2 years ago now?

Edit: As for online, expect to get a lot of negative people online, I haven't added a friend for years on my xbox live account, it used to be much friendlier. The most played online games are the shooters though, you won't find too much of anything else except for select servers with fans of the game.

Saying that mind, ive had mine just over a year now and not had a single problem. Maybe the newer ones are better now?? Its a good buy :) :)

Remember to not just look at the games that are currently out, but look at the upcoming ones aswell.

I dont have a 360 cause its main games i really dislike (e.g. Halo) so i got a PS3 instead.

If you're looking for online play then 360's your best bet - granted there are a lot of FPS's out for it but if you like that then its definately the right choice! I'd say the premium is the best pack as you get everything you need to go online with it (and of course the HDD!)

It's also got some great games coming round the corner too!
The games I'd recommend so far

FPS's - Call of Duty 4, Gears of War, Halo 3 Bioshock

Condemned - a first person horror games, with some elements of a first person shooter but its got a real scare fest and with a great storyline. Its alos got a sequel coming out in a couple of months which is looking even better

Dead or Alive 4 - A great fighting game which will take you a while to master, but even if you don't its still a hell of a lot of fun

Dead Rising - Think Dawn of the dead but a better story, much more fun, using anything you can to kill zombies, kill psychopaths, save civilians and eventually, the day

Forza Motorsport 2 - I'm not a fan of racing games but I'm told that if you like racing and customising your cars properly (not Need for speed style) then this is the one to get

Hitman: Blood Money - If you like a hitman, then get this but if you've never played a hitman game before - download a demo

Blue Dragon - really basic RPG but which I think is great fun! I've still yet to check out Eternal Sonata

The Orange Box - three great games in one - my favourite being Portal

It basically comes down to which sort of games you like - of course the 360 has a lot of cult games too - if you're looking for something a bit different to your Halos etc then they are games there

but then again if you want something different, then wii is the one to get (or get the wii60 combo if you've got the money)

Thanks for all your input and advice guys, minus the Wii part, I already have one. I got my 360 today, what I -did- get were Assassin's Creed and Dynasty Gundam, I intend to get other games as well, those being:

Blue Dragon: Had positive reception, but I've mostly heard negative things about it.

Eternal Sonata: Again, another RPG, heard good things, but also bad.

Gears of War: Simply because it's the "it" game and many friends have it.

Dead Rising: Wanted it for a while, so I'm planning to get it.

Naruto 360: An actual -good- Naruto game which looks... good, plus I need something to play with my nephew.

Devil May Cry 4: Need something to play which has fast gameplay which I like, but then again the cheesyness of previous installments are making me think on it.

The one game I -don't- want is Halo, although in the end I'll probably give in. Also thinking on getting Bioshock.

Again, thanks for all the advice and stuff.

I don't recall reading too many positive reviews of Blue Dragon ... so I'd give it a miss and wait for Lost Odyssey if I was you :]

Those are REALLY good choices :D Blue Dragon ive found so far to be good (my dads playing through and he tells me all about it), Eternal sonata is awesome. And Devil May Cry 4, you've probably seen me posting about it since i have a habit of doing so, is amazing. You wont regret getting it :D

I'm planning to get Lost Odyssey anyway, because it actually seems like an awesome RPG, Takehiko Inoue character designs and Nobou Uematsu is composing the score, so it's got to be made of win.

I've mostly heard stuff like "Blue Dragon was a chore to get through" "It was dragged out and boring" etc. It's only £20 in GAME, so if I buy it and it sucks, it ain't a major loss. Really holding out for Lost Odyssey though, it's one of the reasons I decided getting a 360.

Only thing about Lost Odyssey is its apperntly got mecha loading times. Like Resident Evil 1 style, its like 20 second loading between each fight, and going through every door brings another loading screen, and apperntly the score isnt a patch on the FF score.

(Thats from IGN btw)

^ I wouldn't buy a console for a game from an unproven studio (Mistwalker) and an unproven director; Sure, Sakaguchi created Final Fantasy, but he had a hands-off role in every game after FFV - and FFVI, VII etc. are the reason FF is as huge as it is. It's Kitase and Nomura that 'made' FF, I think! So, Sakaguchi is overrated and I've heard bad things about Lost Odyssey too! :/

I'm on Blue Dragon's side - it was fun if cliched. had a charming art style, great music (people didn't give the soundtrack a chance to sink in before complaining about it - I still regularly listen to the main tracks) and it wasn't a chore nor drawn out (I finished it at around 40 hours).

From what I hear, Lost Odyssey is just as cliched, so I don't know why people are so keen to "prefer" it. It has pretty much the same score on Gamerankings from what I see. Doesn't look like my cup of tea - too dreary - but I may give it a shot eventually.

... I can never win. Depends what FF though, VI and VII's music is timeless, as is X's but the rest I wasn't feelin' all that much. Loading time won't effect me that much, but it's a downside.

Mistwalker are are company only -just- starting out though, they've only done, what? Two projects so far, so it's a little unfair to be comparing them to Square Enix who've done what? Fourty+ games, even if Mistwalker does have Sakaguchi and Uematsu. Maybe once they've done a few more and we see a pattern going maybe then we can slate them. :0

Besides, like I said, Takehiko Inoue character designs FTW.

Now only if Kentarou Miura or Yoshitake Amano can do some designs for them. :X

Sorry if it seems like im being a pain. The review didnt say which FF. It just said "The soundtrack to this game feels like a B-Score to the Final Fantasy Games". I checked the video review. You could try there, ive found IGN to be reliable in the past mind. Kinda a pain though, I was looking forward to this one too, and I dunno, its the loading times that will get me.

Dead Rising is awful...worst save system I've ever seen. I guess I can understand people liking it for sandbox messing around, but trying to play through the story is a nightmare...the save system killed it.

I like Blue Dragon a lot...

Never mind FFVIII, you didn't like FFIX's score?

...Where is your soul?
