So I just got a PSP...

I know - me, the guy who lives and breathes Nintendo purchased a PlayStation Portable. Well, I was in GameStation to distract myself and my little brother while Mum was in Primark and I saw that they were selling pre-owned PSP 2000 models for £50, so I couldn't say no and picked one up.

Anyway, now that I finally have one, I was wondering what some of the must have games are? I've already decided to redownload Final Fantasy IX (which I had on my PS3 before my brother sold it) when my memory card arrives and I got a used copy of Dissidia: Final Fantasy (Sweet talking sales guy).

Going to recommend Corpse Party :D It's a fun horror/mystery game with loads of great characters. It's quite cheap to get as it's only £7.99 on the PSN.

Fate/Unlimited Codes is a great fighting game. Going to say Final Fantasy IV collection as it also contains the After Years.

Final Fantasy IV Collection contains After Years?! Hell yeah (IV is my fave =3).

I shall have to look up those other two...I do like those genres xD

I was just browsing the PSN Store and also just noticed the film and TV section. I already own all of Elfen Lied on DVD, but £1.50 an episode? Veeeeeery tempting. Also has some things like Redline, 5cm Per Second and stuff for slightly higher (just less than £10).

I also came across the Persona games. Would anyone recommend them?

All I can say is...my money will be gone as soon as I have some. What took me so long in getting one?!

And yay Lawrence - we both got PSPs today! *high five!*.

Disclaimer: I've only played Persona 3 and 4 on the PS2 (both were/are excellent). The PSP port for P3 is supposed to be really good though.

Seconding the recommendation of Persona 3 if you've not played it. I wouldn't worry about the other two that are available though. They're very different games and not the reason the series spiked in popularity.

What's that...I get to spend...less money? Fair enough xD

I might as well see if Natwest can transfer all of my funds into PSN vouchers at this point =3.

Oh, I see, a whole thread. ^^;

There is a game. Some call it "Monster Hunter". It is the game the PSP was born to play.

Also Lumines, and Project Diva.

Corpse Party is good as are the Ys Games if you like action rpgs. I'm not sure about Valkaria Chronicles 2 as I've not played it but the first was excellent on PS3.

Since the Persona games came up I'd suggest trying Persona 3 first and if you enjoy that playing Persona 2 they're not really connected storyline wise so you don't need to have played the early ones first and 3 and 4 are the strongest in the series. That's not to say the earlier ones aren't good because they are very good games in there own right.

Finally if you'll permit me to be biased and plug our stuff I do deeply love Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. It's one of my favourite games of last year.

If you don't play Trails in the Sky, there really is no point. It's a classic epic globe-trotting (well, region-trotting) adventure RPG, the likes of which don't seem to be in vogue any more. Like Grandia but without the eye-cancer.

Persona 3 and Valkyria Chronicles 2 are also must-haves for an anime/RPG fan. Jeanne d'Arc is the quite possibly the best strategy RPG on the system, but it was never released in Europe. Fear not, however, for an ebay seller has copies of the US release for a reasonable £12.99 at the moment. Do not miss out.

Wow, that certainly is a lot of suggestions! - Thanks a lot everyone. Somehow you guys know exactly what kind of games I do like xD

For the titles I can get cheaper or easier digitally, I'll have to stock up on lots PSN vouchers! (Can you blame me for not wanting to give Sony my card details?).

I'm also glad ilmaestro suggested Project Diva; one of the biggest things that attracted me to the PSP is that it's region free and before I even got the console, I was looking at that one. Does anyone know a good place to import PSP games from?

If you specifically want Project Diva, I would probably sell you my copy since the new one is out soon on Vita.
Aye, Project Diva is indeed one of the titles I am considering importing.

Interesting proposal! I should be getting paid either end of this week or early next week. How much would you want for it?

I hear there are quite a few awesome games with the words "Final" and "Fantasy" in the title available for the PSP

I second a Recommendation for Lumines, probably keep an eye out for the second Lumines game over the first due to it having more of the same as the first game so to speak. I'll also probably throw in a Rec for Persona also!
