Skyland
CITV (ITV1), Saturday: 10.30am - 11.00am

Synopsis said:
400 years in the future, the Earth has shattered into millions of blocks, known as Skyland, which orbit around the core, and a new kind of human has emerged, Sejins, who absorb sunlight to fuel their telekinetic abilities. There is also a prophecy, but those are fickle things.
Basically it's a French made CGI adventure show that revolves around two siblings who have unique skills: one can use telekinetic abilities (sister) and the other is an expert pilot (brother). They join a group of renegades in the hopes of freeing their mother and putting an end to the dominant, malevolent Sphere.

Graphically it crosses between lush and cheap, but never actually bad; scenes of the heroes’ ship flying around its Skyland home could have easily appeared in a trailer for the latest Final Fantasy, whilst scenes of the characters move fluidly with some nice backdrops and effects. But the models of the characters are far simpler which weakens the overall quality. The designs themselves are well thought out, with characters having unique hairstyles, tattoos (I presume) and facial markings – one “attractiveâ€

Dammit just got up at 11.30 so missed it, (sounds like its made by the same people who did Oban with the cgi and cell shading styled graphics)

Yeah, it might be. Oban's characters look more like traditional anime characters thought, where as Skyland's look more like those seen in other CGI shows such as Excalibur, Dragon Riders et al.

I'm usually dissapointed with CGI series such as these, most though have their moments; in Captain Scarlett it was Captain Scarlett and Captain Black trying to survive being trapped underwater, in Max Power it was whenever Max's power source surged. This series' highlights are in its action scenes.

I wouldn't say it's too much like Waterworld actually. There's no searching, just flying and fighting. It's more like a traditional sci-fi series, except that instead of planets there are floating islands.

Eh...it took CITV quite the while to get this going...considering they were toting it on the Channel's launch.

Lets hope it doesn't go to hell like New Scarlet did, that show died well before it's time.
