should mvm licence ADV anime titles

ok manga entertainment is leading the anime market in the uk and beez is in second and we all know ADV is out of business and revelation films and funianimation and bandai haven't been heard for a while and mvm is selling, re-releases wouldn't it be better for mvm to get the licence for all there titles and sell them to give mvm a lil push, if mvm wants to re releases some titles then they should sell ADV, funianimation, revelation films, bandai ect at least that way if there selling re releases animes from there retailers the guys came in late of the game getting these titles will get a chance of buying them e.g
pumpkin scissors
angelic layer
beck
DNAngel
full metal panic fumoffu
hell girl
king of bandits
yukikaze
zone of enders
zaion
tenchi muyo
spiral
school rumble
ect the list gose on
also i this beez should sell gunbuster 1 and 2
all these in boxsets of course
and if they can, get in some old animes that we haven't had over here yet

Funi & Bandai never sold stuff over here. They sub-licence through Manga & Beez.

But yes. Definately.

The main cost of licensing and releasing anime DVDs over here is:
1. The Authoring (i.e. Making the actual discs. Menu's and such)
2. BBFC (Rating the show as U/PG/12/15/18)

If they were to pick up ADV or Revelation's shows, then these costs wouldn't apply.

After they released the OVAs and movies (but not 2) of Urusei Yatsura I always hoped they'd do the TV series. Alas not.

(Except the few video releases they did of it in the nineties).

i had a look and you was right bandai and funi didn't sell any. i got this info from my old anime-on-line catalogue so that gave me the idea. anyway i dont care who licence and who re releases or brings out old animes, just as long as there selling but mvm should give it a go

you watched Urusei Yatsura i recently watched the ova im on the second disc and let me tell ya its a freaking good series yeah they need to releases Urusei Yatsura as well

I would buy none of those as I already have all the ones I want, which is the eternal problem with rereleases.

However I don't see why they shouldn't at least grab some of the strong sellers if they are available (some ADV won't have rights to to give them) as rereleases do seem to be a good idea where a series is still popular. I'm surprised Manga hasn't chatted Funi up and got all of FMP in print here.

That's the short-lived and dearly departed Anime Projects. Those UY tapes changed my life, maaaan.

I think the problem with licensing old ADV titles is that most of them probably didn't sell great numbers the first time around, and Funimation have cherry-picked the ones that did.

agreed but if they did sell popular animes with not so popular animes some fan might pick them up

The problem is FUNimation have licensed some of them here (including everything Revelation did) only Manga can release FUNimation titles.
Lots of the old ADV and Geneon titles are now FUnimation as well, look at what they have internet streaming rigts for.

FMP TSR is in licensing hell still isn't it. Due to being a Kadokawa Pictures USA title. Neither Kadokawa or FUNi know who has the UK rights, they both say the other one does. Untill FUNi's original licence runs out we can't get it released here.
All the Titles FUNi or S23 licnece rescued off ADV or Geneon USA in the US would be worth releasesing here. Problem being several of them never made it here when ADV or Geneon USA had them, dvd masters are normaly done by the Australian compaies, so rescues cost the same as new titles on that front .

all im saying is that if these guy have ADV titles and such they should re releases them and funinimation aren't even selling anything over here all i see is manga entertainment and beez and one mvm. if funianimation dose have ADV titles they they should rather re releases them or sell the licence to them for other companies to use cause funi is being greedy they have the right to sell but not selling (greedy basterds)

Reasons that ADV ended up in trouble:

1) They licensed a whooooooole bunch of **** titles.
yeah but they could of got a few good ones, they probably thought anime fans will watch anything.
well let me say this those guys are idiots if they think that. it takes a anime fan to get it right on what people want to see. they should of given the job of telling them whats popular and whats not. the pne title that only had one volume and had 2 more coming was pumpkin scissors i wanted that series good thing i wanted the boxset instead of getting them in singles

Funimation in the UK is Manga.
They're selling lots of titles over here THROUGH MANGA.
Look at a Manga dvd case notice it says either Viz, Kaze, Bandai Ent or FUNimation on it, not just Manga.

bloody hell your right
you dude i wanna say thanks for the information gathering all of ya. but still ADV titles should have another go there was a few boxsets that i wanted from the ADV, funi and such but was to late and theres a few series that go with my other series

ADV licensed, but never released the Elfen Lied OVA. I'd like to see that come out (The "Elfen Lied Complete Collection" isn't complete without it T_T). Maybe if EL gets license-saved, someone can pick up the OVA as well.

That's not forget a lot of anime fans like myself have already brought those shows you have listed animefreak on region 1. MVM should be looking for new anime tittles to bring out. Not bringing out the same old stuff. Also dude please use some capitial letters and use a spellchecker it's getting hard to read your posts. 8)
