<a href="http://www.icv2.com/articles/home/10663.html">According to ICv2</a>, US manga publishers "Seven Seas" have decided to pull their much debated release of "<em>Nymphet</em>". The controversy surrounding the title is due to it's rather questionable content, which revolves around a "<em>mischievous young girl who tries to sexually entrap her teacher</em>".

Originally Seven Seas planned to roll out a shrink-wrapped nation-wide release of Nymphet, but after considering the level of critisism aimed at the title; including a particularly strong attack by Anime News Network's "Answerman" ("<a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/answerman/2007-05-18">I can't possibly endorse this release - the whole concept makes my flesh crawl</a>") - Seven Seas have decided to kill the release altogether.

Ok i've never heard of this series but it does sound a little disturbing. But then again I know for a fact worse stuff has made it to, just look at some of the series a certain devision of Central Park Media have released in the US >_>

I was a little interested in reading the manga but oh well I will just look forward to the anime series that is comming this summer. To be honest I think I have read more controversy in of mangas than this.

Yeah, it sounds bad, but people are acting like this hasn't happened before, which is ridiculous. Besides, I'm willing to bet there are far, far worse mangas out there. If people are so upset about it, it's less productive to make a big deal about it. They're better off just leaving it alone, and it won't sell. Simple as that.

Knee jerk reaction from people who probably haven't read the series. Mind you I haven't either, but will not damn it before I've read it, as Answerman has.

Yeah same here, I've seen a few panels of the manga floating around on the net and it looks fairly harmless, just looks like a bit of a risqué comedy really, its not like the teacher is actually having sex with the kid or anything, I presume that doesn't happen anyway...

Dude, that would have made awesome reading. From the synopsis, it's the girl who has the upper hand, which is a fantastic role reversal from the usual fare that you see in the series which were more popular, yet objectionable, yet widely released in the past.

Kudos to the fact that it's drawn by a female creator too ^_~

Sads. I so would have picked that up.

Quoted for truth.

I quite enjoy reading the Answerman column - in this case he shares my view that it's not exactly pornographic or worth making a fuss over but it's still not what many of us want to see on the shelves. To be fair, the Seven Seas spokesman makes a good case and stresses that they intend to listen to feedback from fans and retailers before the release goes any further.

For the record, I personally don't have any interest in buying it at all but I wouldn't judge anyone who did read it.

Based on a few of the things I've read about this online, it seems like Nymphet treads a fine line between disturbing and funny. No doubt it can be offensive, but then some humor always will offend.

I'm not a fan of moe/loli anime in the slightest, but at the same time, I think it's bull **** that a bunch of internet prudes have used fan pressure and controversy to force this off the rails.

Quick question how is this really different from things like moon phase? She orders (and gets) a double bed for the her and her twenty something year old 'slave'

Ouch. Looks like Seven Seas got a bit burned over this title, which hardly seems fair. I guess it's a problem with the licencing being so competitive that distributors are pretty much 'buying blind'.

If someone with a name as crappy as "Answerman" disagreed with something I was planning on doing, I'd want to do it even more.

Booo to Seven Seas for being WUSSES.

Honestly, there are far worse things out there to be worried about in showing "this kinda thing"...in the end...if people find it offensive/disturbing/etc...who cares? No ones forcing them to watch it, things like this are released for the fans, who do want to watch it...the people that count >->
