Reading Lament of the Lamb and seeing the incestious overtones has reminded me of something and made me want to ask a question. A serious question.

A while back I remembered reading the the human body has a sort of self-defense system against incest: body odur. Apparently the smell of, for example, a sister to a brother is meant to be repulsive. It would make sense for there to be such an interbreeding prevention system in place, but I find it hard to believe.

Now, since I have no sister and cannot verify this, here's what I ask of you: Go sniff your sisters panties and report back with your findings. Rest assured, the information given will beuseful since it will answer my question. :idea:
 
You wouldn't like it if you went into it for incest. Aside from some blood sucking and two kisses, there's been nothing in the first 5/7 volumes. I don't read manga in order to masturbate, and I can't give you a link because I own hard copies of the manga.

Not so sure where that came from; pretty sure you picked it up wrong or something. In fact, when brothers and sisters have been separated at birth and unknowingly meet, they become sexually attracted to each other. It's called "Genetic sexual attraction", as a matter of fact.

In any case, I've never noticed a repulsive smell from my sister nor have I ever heard of anyone experiencing any different. Basically, I'm pretty sure you're wrong :p
 
Other way around but my brother doesn't particularly stink. I wouldn't want to do anything with him though, I spent years beating him up and being beaten up by him in that loving sibling way so it would be weird.

A few of my friends (utterly unrelated to me) do smell yucky. My husband smells brilliant though, and I've often wondered how much that ties into attraction on some level.

well going on the pheramones which i think Rui is talking about....its proven that certain smells are naturally used to intise the opposite sex.......in theory i guess there maybe a counter scent used to ward off people......B.O might be one of those defences :lol:

on the sniffing girls panties......there's panty vending machines in japan if your into that sort of thing.
 
Tachi's right about the pheremones. We are attracted to (or repelled by) bodily odours to some extent. I remember them doing an experiment and different people were attracted to different body odours. It would seem to make sense for pheremones to make us naturally not attracted to our siblings, but as to the scientific fact I don't think anything's been proven.

That genetic sexual attraction thing is very odd... though it would support the theory that we look for people who resemble ourselves facially. Though I've always found the theory that we look for partners with characteristics we lack, so as to balance out the genes and not breed in weaknesses (the opposite of incest) more plausable.
 
If there was such a smell issue, it'd be the smell of the..erm, for want of a better term, the sexual areas. That's why I half jokingly threw in the 'go sniff your sisters panties!' comment. I'm going to out on a limb and say that, unless we have someone willing to confess sniffing a siblings underwear or hving sexual relations with a family member, there won't be an answer. :D

I thought I was wrong when I thought of it because incest of the consensual kind wouldn't exist if the brother/sister had the same effect as a skunk on the other. I just felt like confirming I was wrong if possible out of randomness.
 
well i have 2 sisters... but im not gonna sniff there knickers simply because i already know what my findings will be...

but on a serious note ive always wondered about incest... like how it begins. atleast the mutual kind

what i mean is when ur gonna have sex with some1 for the first time, there has to be an atmosphere, ya no like a flirtatious "i want you" kind of atmosphere, the air is thick with it.... so how the **** do you begin that feeling with a ******* brother or sister or mother or father!??!?

oh....on the brother sister or parent child thing....i don't know...its all wrong anyway....but i find it more disturbing about the parent child as apose to the siblings incest.....it just feels worse to me.

and as far as my findings... logically i can only assume disgust not only because there my sisters but also because they're women doh!

I am soon to recieve my much anticipated baby sister of which I have always wished and hoped for, and I am sorry to say that even six years after she is born I will not carry out your "serious" yet strange request. ...maybe seven years though...

I joke. As much as I am sure that I will love and cherish her, I will never go into her drawers and start smelling the scents from her under-garments.
 
I asked the same question on MAL. Every male commented that their sister smelled horrible to them at least. Maybe what I read somewhere wasn't wrong?
