reanimator

Hikikomori
I just recently discovered anime, as a fan of sci-fi i started with sci-fi anime. I realized that it is very hard to find a website that will recommend you dramatic sci-fi anime, so i build one. Here's what i have, it will be improved, new series will be added soon. hopefully it might help somebody to find the right sci-fi anime to watch.

here's what i recommend:
appleseed
blue gender
cowboy bebop
heroic age
gundam seed, gundam seed destiny
mobile suit gundam 00
macross zero
macross frontier
planetes

Full Metal Panic!
Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (2nd Gig)
Martian Successor Nadesico

Expect Ghost in the Shell to appear a few times in this thread.
Macross Plus should be a definite one.
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV series first, movies after)
Orguss 02
Bubblegum Crisis (the original series)
AD Police
Akira
Ergo Proxy

Hmmm... a lot of these ones are set on Earth as opposed to in space (which more of your titles are), but see what you think anyway. :D

Gunbuster and Diebuster seem an appropriate mention. You could argue just about any mech title is sci-fi drama, though I suppose we're talking space/distant future stuff. Depends where you make the distinction.

Well the original meaning of science fiction was fiction that centred on some future scientific innovation hence the "science" part. The popular use of the term has broadened to include any story set in the future. I'd say the anime that is most true to the original meaning of science fiction is Ghost in the Shell.
