Anime or manga? The way they adapted the anime has always put me off a little bit, but it would be so much more awkward and expensive to get the manga.

The Manga Edtion!

Simply because its has the complete story with none of the Anime filler. You can get all the manga volumes of Rurouni Kenshin in VIZBIG edtion for under £100 on http://www.bookdepository.co.uk. A bit less if you wait for the next 10% book depository voucher to become available.
 
Yeah, the filler and lack of completion really does put me off the anime. So many things that I already have to read, though...
 
Way-hay, and all that.

I pray that some miraculous feat of fate sees Furuhashi return as director. I genuinely believe him to be one of the best out there. I'd also probably go a wee bit silly if Asakura returns to score this adaptation, with his eclectic array of styles and tunes.
 
iv got samuri x box set but iv never seen the original series. if there going to release this in the uk they better bring out the first series before the return series
