Details have been released about the movie adaptation of Reiko Shimizu’s sci-fi manga Himitsu - The Top Secret.
The manga is set in the late 21st century. A brain scanner is introduced at the National Research Institute of Police Science's 9th Forensics Laboratory and it is so powerful it is able to scan five years’ worth of memories from people even if they are dead. This helps solve crimes but also poses ethical questions about the issue of privacy for the chief of the laboratory Tsuyoshi Maki, his newest recruit at the lab Ikko Aoki, forensic medical examiner Yukiko Miyoshi, and detective Shunsuke Manabe.
Reiko Shimizu's manga was launched in Hakusensha's Melody magazine in 2001 and went on to become adapted into a TV anime and win an Excellence Prize in the Japan Media Arts Festival Awards and a spin-off is ongoing.
The movie adapts the original manga and the cast for the lead roles has been announced:

Ikko Aoki is played by Masaki Okada (Confessions, Strayers Chronicle)
Yukio Miyoshi is played by Chiaki Kuriyama (Battle Royale, Exte: Hair Extensions)
