Region 2 Market about to take a major hit?

I just don't see the point in waiting for R2 releases anymore, I have a multi-region player and thats all i need to watch the anime I want

i think ill start buying from amazon id rather wait upto a month for 3 R1 Vols to come in the mail than wait 2 years to get the same dvd with an annoying PG,12 or 15 rating

you just have to buy a cheap dvd player for minimum £20, spend a hour on the internet looking for a code to press in and bob's your uncle
like i did

I can see both sides of the argument but personally I prefer the current rate to the slower quarterly presented here.

So do I!

No 6 volume series should take over a year to release.

But up til now, Revelation's release schedule has been similar to that above. They've just had fewer series, and it's only November that has seen 4 discs released.

It's just all of a sudden there are whole new bunch of titles, Tsubasa, Mushi-shi, Beck, and Suzuka. The only one finishing is Negima. That takes up room on the schedule, and with School Rumble and Hell Girl starting next year, that's overload.

I'd much rather they had postponed those two new titles until Moon Phase and Peach Girl had been completed.

hey how did you get region 2 only on animeondvd
ps. nice work on finding these

These were posted in the forums there. The site does cover R2, but most of the time that only extends to reviews.

As for the topic, I find it more annoying than anything else. It's unlikely I would have got around to buying any of these before mid 2009 anyway, so the delays probably wouldn't have affected me.

However, I do think this is a really bad move, but purely because Funimation release most of their series monthly. Revelation are going to start falling behind badly on R1 releases, which is going to lead to a lot more R1 imports.

If I were setting up the release schedule, this is how I would do it, with a maximum of three discs a month, and no two volumes more than three months apart. It's a compromise that will probably satisfy no one, but no series takes more than 13 months to be released.

It worries the **** out of me that £15 is concidered "Agressive pricing". If anything, that should be the base rrp.

Course it's not, between dipshit marketing and dipshit BBFC with thier dipshit double diping.

Untill someone tells the BBFC where they can go stick thier double diping and more anime is on tv. The medium is not going to ever be on the american level.

Just a passing thought, what's the state of FUNimations release schedule at the mo?
Offhand I seem to remember they are mostly releasing their Viridan collections (reboxing series) at the moment, with only Ragnarok, Black Blood Brothers, Glass fleet and Shuffle (yay!) being on their current new series releases.
Considering the R1 market is currently quite shaken and stagnating, is there the possibility of Revelation having to slow their releases down in line with FUNi's schedule?

Apologies for not looking into it more myself, but I'm buried under a pile of paperwork at the mo .... :?

I think this not getting things released quickly enough over here is why 90% of my DVD collection is R1 (also helps with the exchange rate at the moment). Although it is still not a bed of roses buying from the US as many titles are only released every two months or so.
