Realistic Anime titles you wanted licensed in the uk?

It unrealistic to have all or certain niche anime titles get licensed over here, but what titles which could be realistically get licensed over here would you like to see?

Mine are:

ONE PIECE: No question my NO.1 title to get licensed in the UK. No other title can bring me so much joy and enjoyment, I find it somewhat a travesty that such good title is not yet been released over here when so many less desired titles get released over here. I would go far to say it one of few shows that deserve to get TV slot like on BBC 3. BBC claim to offer wide range choice but they rather awful show like freaky eaters when they could get get ONE PIECE for near nothing, it madness.

HUNTER X HUNTER: Another great show which I rate near nothing damn it equal to ONE PIECE, If more was released it could even surpass it in my eyes. With the tv series (not including later OVA'S) only 62 episodes long it would be much a less undertaking than ONE PIECE. If MANGA are willing to licensed MAR which has similar no. episodes and has been released full well knowing that get released unfinished why not HUNTER X HUNTER.

CYBER CITY OEDO 808: A title from the past which has already had the dub passed by BBFC when it was released on vhs. So cutting a major cost in releasing it. I would buy it if was dub only, If it Meant it would improve chances it get released over here on DVD.

GUYVER 12 PART OVA: As with CYBER CITY OEDO 808 the Dub has already been passed by BBFC saving cost of re-release. A massive title when released on vhsby manga, I enjoy it much more than the the recent TV remake. I already own the VHS but the desire to have the better dvd quality picture would make it must for me. Another title for me which I be willing to take dub only, Got love gyro deep & sinster voice through out.

I would quite like to see more of the gundam OVA's, thanks to Beez we already got a gundam release that the amercians never got (the 0083 compliation movie) Although i would like to see the original 12 part Guyver OVA as well, but i will disagree, i thoguht the new series was much better especially since it got to further the storyline...just a shame a season 2 isn't forthcoming, there's more then enough manga content.

I will never buy dub only. In the case of the old Manga VHS rereleases I can see the argument for it but even if the dub was the first thing I'd seen, I'd prefer to get the full value of the original language as an option now.

I agree that Cyber City Oedo and the old Guyver are obvious picks - why they aren't out already is strange. I imported mine to get rid of the VHS tapes but I bet a lot of people have fond memories of them being shown on Sci-Fi etc and wouldn't mind picking them up.

Maybe with Death Note finishing up, Manga will have a gap in their shounen line up? I'd like to see HxH first as it's more likely they'll finish it [and the R1s are annoyingly priced in terms of customs exposure]. One Piece will be a long haul but if they position it right it could be worth the gamble. Funi's One Piece release is so aggressively positioned though that a lot of the One Piece nuts are buying R1 already, I feel. In that respect they should announce sooner rather than later to keep their market...

Some other realistic candidates for the popular ~13 episode set format they're working with would be Welcome To The NHK, Baccano, Romeo x Juliet and perhaps Higurashi. Not sure the latter would go down too well if the newspapers got the wrong end of the stick and it might be a little too confusing to market here at the moment but the other three should be solid followups from Funi's library if xxxHolic/Ouran/Ghost Hunt etc have been successful. I'd buy all of those, anyway :)

I'd quite like them to try something cute (like Di Gi Charat). Beez's Panda-Z didn't seem to do that well but I still think that kind of thing might find some fans with the right push.

I can't remember the exact words, but I recall hearing that Toei are extremely expensive with their shows, or at least One Piece. It'd be hilarious to see on an BBC channel, but I wouldn't for the life of me want it on Three. Or, really, any of the other channels.

Sky1 could have handled Bleach, I thought back in the day (before AC and AN)

Don't MVM have Romeo x Juliet?

Cyber City actually received a UK DVD release back in 2000, but it's long out of print and it was a very poor effort (you could, as I recall, hear the English dialogue playing underneath the Japanese track). I'd certainly support a re-release but the chances of it happening are remote.

Still wish they'd sort out the licence for FMP! The Second Raid over here. I know there were a lot of complications with it changing hands, but the first series and Fumoffu have already had releases in R2 and there is a reasonably large fanbase in the UK. I wouldn't say it's too unreleastic to want it released.

Hell yeah, I wouldn't mind it with the dub either as it was so hilariously over the top, some great lines:

"It's way past your bedtime motherf***er!"

Priceless.

None of the titles I want out are realistic. Everything I want is stuff that's never been officially released subbed even in the US. If a title is officially available from somewhere with English subs then I'm happy - unless it's a region A locked Blu-ray.

:: shakes fist at movie studios ::

I don't have to repeat my "Unlock your DVD player" spiel again do I? :p

Not sure how realistic this is but, Denno Coil. Around the time it premiered in Japan the hype over here gave me the impression that it might at least make the States.

It makes me sad to think that Haruhi and Lucky Star were so quickly snapped up while DC was dismissed.

code geass, nuff said ;)

I second Code Geass.

I know Viz started to release Prince of Tennis in USA but i'd love a proper release for the UK.

It's shounen so, it could probably sell- Just sell it when Wimbledon starts :p

I'm a bit surprised that Beez haven't done anything with Code Geass yet. I guess it could be a bit of Expo news, although this is for the best as i wouldn't like to think i was trying to collect Code Geass alongside Gundam 00 and TTGL

Seeing as One Piece aired here a few years ago, I'm guessing it's something that could work. Of course, it would get a late night showing since the 4kids travesty was shown during the day.

While remembering the old ova while watching the new guyver tv series, I kept having the same thoughts trought over and over. So many part I just remember the ova doing the same material but so much better, like Episode 5, The shock of episode 11 and surprise appearance at the end of last episode just a few examples. As i said before gyro voice in the dub was fantastic, it shame the voice actor didn't return, the new voice could never compete with that.

Well imagine how much Naruto costs and thats a lot more popular than one piece in the west so in turn increasing the price. Regarding the tv channel, you going take what you can get, but 7 pm slot on BBC choice when you normally get high hundred thousand maybe a couple million viewers so they not going to lose out too much if you show one piece is in trial run at that time. Its not like BBC need rating but it certainly give them are certain diversity over other channels and that what BBC should be about.

Well Manga did re-release Space Adventure Cobra, so anything possible. I remembering seeing a title called "cyber city" on the release schedule in neomag ages ago, nothing ever came off it but it look like they where planning to re-release it.

I can't remember that line, but its one of the reason I like it so much, the creative swearing. Off the top of my head from second OVA;

" You not giving up at 8 count"

"I am not going to let that Tin F****r get the best of me"

Or words to those effect :)

Well on AoD's Most Wanted - License Wish List, Denno Coil is second most wanted title. But it would need to released in the USA before any chance of UK release.

Many of the R1 releases are under the magical £18 at PlayUSA, if that's what you're after.

Personally I'd like to see Emma: A Victorian Romance obtain a licence over here. It was sub-only in R1, and something suggests a dub would be better off in the hands of an R2 company.
Since I make the assumption that this sort of work can still be feasibly undertaken over here by our companies, this request is perhaps less realistic than some.

I'd like to see Utena and I'd like to see it released by Manga, as I do NOT want MVM to go anywhere near the series again. I don't know what contract they signed with Funimation but you don't release "End of Eva" before you get at the very least "Death and rebirth", chripes.

I'd like to see Gundam X, Subbed and at "Naruto" sale price. Ditto Turn A.

I'd like to see a repeat of the Gundam Wing "HQ" boxset with Outlaw Star.

I'd like to see all the shows that were on Toonami (Gash Bell, Kenshin in "Not on a random channel in the 800's o vison, etc) on TV here.

I'd also like to see Kamen Rider Dragon Knight go to ether Nick and give Jetix the rider kick they've been asking for since about 2005 or STV and give WKND@STV something to realy call it's own (actauly, WKND@STV/CITV could be a good place for most of the Toonami Hopeful, ITV's currently Running Superman:TAS for example)

I want to see Manga get the rights for Shaman King and do a double sided release for it, one side for the dub and the other for the subtitle. I'd gladly pay for that.

Also, Beez best be geting G Gundam and geting that aired on TV and bringing out Big O in two boxsets.
