Rave Master

Any chance to pick up the anime again or is it definitely dead?

If you're refering to pick up the DVDs, then that'll be hard. TokyoPop discontinued the DVDs before all 51 Episodes were released, after 16-20 episodes were released it was thought that weak sales was what discontinued the Dub Only DVDs. However, now that FUNimation owns the rights to the series(As they now have all of TokyoPop's Anime Library), we may see a uncut release, or even a completely new dub.

If you're refering to a company continuing the anime it is very unlikely, it's been almost 6 years since the 51 episode aired. And it's been almost 2.5-3 years since the manga wraped up aswell. So, if, for example, someone where to want to make OVAs to complete the series, it's a little too late, as the show's popularity is probably very low in Japan now. The same can almost be said about InuYasha, except that Rumiko Takahasi has yet to finish her manga.

Thanks for the info.
Real shame about it's fate :(
Was it really popular in Japan when it first aired?
And do you by any chance know if the author is working on anything new?

The manga was popular enough; not so sure about the anime, though. It was edited quite heavily.

The author is working on a manga called "Fairy Tale", I believe.

I tried to watch the 'Rave Master' adaption on Toonami, but I just couldn't bare the bad and pointless puns, and awful voices, so I went back to watching the 'Groove Adventure Rave' original episodes... much more entertaining!!

I used to watch it, thought it was great but as of many things it seemed to be cut before it got good. Whoever released it in the US [Most likely 4 Kids] dropped it after 1 Season & Japan I think it was Dropped after the 50th episode

I used to watch this whenever it was on and then one day it was never shown again :( I thought it was a great anime and it should of continued but it never did

I used to watch this when I was younger along with Dragonball/Z/GT on Toonami, of course this was way before I started watching anime online, I loved it back then and I watched all of it subbed online a few months ago. Hopefully Funi does this series justice and releases a boxset or two with all 51 episodes with a Japanese track and subtitles. I doubt it however, are there any fans of this series left? Maybe we should petition/send letters/constant e-mailing

Hmm, when I hear "Rave Master", that weird snow man / dog thing comes to mind. I saw a couple of eps when it was shown on Toonami and thought it was pretty decent and was a little dissapointed when they kept repeating the episodes since they never finished it.

You never know, Manga could release this to go along with: Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, MAr and Megaman NT Warrior.

Rave Master certainly fits the whole Shonen style shows they are doing now.

If Manga ever release Shaman King, I would probably say that they would be(in my eyes) the best R2 anime licensor/distributor.

Hopefully they could, I have no idea who holds the UK license now, it aired on Toonami but it was cancelled and so was the channel. Maybe it doesn't even have a UK license.

After some enquiring I've found out that although Funi has the US distribution licence Tokyopop still have the licence for the dub and subs...

Come on Manga!
Or anyone else who wants to do a decent job. Though your right in saying that Manga would be the best choice. If they can license Mar with the very limited fanbase it has surely they can get Rave? And I believe there was a recent release of Shaman King with the first 9 episodes from Liberation Entertainment.

At least with Rave Master, there is a resemblence of an installed fanbase due to it have being shown on TV.

This is what confuses me about the MAr aquisition. It has no readilt installed fanbase. Death Note is huge, so it'll sell just like Bleach and Naruto. Megaman NT has been on TV before, and if they give it the japanese dub and sub treatment, then it'll sell very well, especially as it will be imported by US fans as well).
