Miss Hokusai: 7/10WHY THOSE EYEBROWS!? A glance into 1814 Edo life presented as a movie. Rarely more cohesive than a collection of subplots. O-Ei's relationship with her blind little sister was deeply touching, and the writing / nice direction made it fun.Princess Arete: 6/10Won me over via world-building as Arete escaped her tower to watch craftsmen work. Her suitors trying to win her over reminded me of 'Virgin Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors'. A repetitive mess once Boax takes her away. Pity: had non-anime artistic flair.Mary and the Witch's Flower: 6/10Begins as a more upbeat tween spiritual successor to Marnie (self-conscious, relatable heroine). Then... 1D Madame Cock & Doctor Dee. It becomes a hollow attempt at being a boyXgirl Ghibli adventure. A nice looking & sounding but disappointing film.
