Penguin Highway SLA Screening

Having little idea what to expect from this film going into it, I was pleasantly surprised by this one.  Despite appearances, it's far less 'cute family movie about penguins' than a character study of a young boy railing against his own limitations, as he tries to understand the baffling world of adults he so badly wants to fit into.  It may frustrate some folk that, while the significance of what's going on seems tantalisingly close towards the end, the film concludes without giving away any of its secrets, but I still enjoyed the journey nonetheless.

It certainly confirms first time feature director Ishida as a serious talent, and definitely a name to look out for in future.
