I heard BSkyB are this new fangled funky thing called a business, anyone got any more info on that?
No, but I heard they were being uncompetetive and trying to dominate the market.

That's still business 101, they are doing nothing wrong it's what the big boys do. Same goes for any multi billion industry, you only have to look at the Telecom's companies to see that.
That's fine and all, but lack of competition stagnates the market and thus stunts the evolution of the idea.

And "the big boys do it" is a retarded argument, honestly.

Whats retarded about it? i would like to see your reasoning behind that.

I would say the TV industry is pretty competitive, you just have to go look at thier websites to see they are undercutting each other left right and centre.

Because sky are greedy pigs.. thats why they took off they channels from virgin media so that they could get people to buy more.. GREEDY GREEDY GREEDY.
Sky didn't take them off. Virgin threw them off. Sky didn't want their channels removed at all. Bransen was having a sulk because Sky bought up a percentage of ITV scupering Bransen's bid to take ITV over.
No. Sky pulled themselves while trying to make it look like Virgin's fault. They doubled the prices for their own channels while trying to halve the price they paid Virgin for the channels Virgin owns. There was no way that Virgin could possibly accept a deal like that so they had no choice but to not renew the contract. The channels they pulled are full of drivel anyway and I never watched them in before they went anyway. The effect is just as stated: Sky pulled their channels from Virgin by demanding a completely unreasonable deal for channels that whose popularity was in decline to begin with. Frankly Sky is trying to squeeze everybody else completely out of the market by playing the numbers and is only barely on the side of legal as it goes.
That's bollox. I 'll agree with the playground like squable, but I know for a fact, by someone who works for them, that Sky did not pull their channels. The lines to NTL are still there. All Virgin has to do is put the u-links back in.

Yes Virgin could reconnect the links but they must pay Sky their exorbitant fees to do so. That is how Sky pulled itself off Virgin; they didn't cut the physical cables but priced their crap way too high in such a way that it was completely unnacceptable to Virgin and that is what I meant by saying Sky pulled themselves from Virgin. They don't need to cut the cables against a company that plays within the law so why should they go to the effort to do so?

Is this Sky VS Virgin now...

Just stop it, Sky wanted to raise the price of the channels so we don't have to pay higher. Look at Sky's subscription, its already high.

And Virgin Media, its their choice if they don't want to buy channels or not.

I'm actually wondering what kind of anime will Rapture purchase. They are no longer on the Sky EPG and they must have a limited budget.

Regardless of who pulled who, this is less about Virgin Media v Sky , but more Branson v Murdoch. Like I said Branson is still having a tantrum because Murdoch bought 18% of ITV which was Branson's real target and still is. Insiders say he bought out NTL as a way to stick one into Sky by pulling this trumped up reason of Sky asking for more money for their package then dropping them off cable. It would have made no difference what the price would have been anyway because in reality without this little squabble he would have just past it on to cable customers as usual like NTL did. Even his taking Sky to high court about it is a spoiled rich boy's PR ploy to make it look like Virgin is the victim, so you see both sides are as bad as each other. BTW when you can now get TV, broadband, and telephone for £26 a month, Sky is the cheaper of the 2 with more content, so saying Sky is extorsionate is just wrong, full stop. Sky is also proposing putting those pulled channels back on freeview as a PPV package anyway. Remember no tele in this country has ever been "free" when you have to pay for a license with inflation busting increases each year to see it.

Also 193 is still missing from my EPG.
