It's just a bit of simple ribbing. I've never known anyone express anti-southern / anti-northern sentiment in a serious manner nor have I seen anyone take it as a slight on their character before. I mean it's not like you're from Lancashire or anything...

Australia has far more anime on TV than the UK, and has done for a long time.
