Production Video for Live-Action Kiki’s Delivery Service

A production video for the forthcoming live-action Kiki’s Delivery Service is now on the internet and it shows the set and cast and director at work.

The film is the second movie adaptation of Eiko Kadono’s 1985 novel. Anime fans will be well aware that the first movie adaptation in animated form from Studio Ghibli in 1989. Well this version is directed by J-horror maestro Takashi Shimizu (Ju-On: The Curse, Marebito) and it is written by Satoko Okudera (The Wolf Children). Kiki  is played by former figure-skater Fuka Koshibe and she will be seen in Japanese theatres sometime in the spring of 2014.

Thank God it's a Japanese cast.

I'm so glad GITS and Bebop are on hold as those with an American cast would be just nasty.

Star power! She's not coming from out of nowhere since has one major acting role to her name and that is the 11 episode TV series Breathless Summer (2012). A pretty big supporting part as well.
