Pretty Cure to be shown on PopGirl in the UK

Thanks the lord I have a teenage daughter who wants to watch this, but after 3 episodes I'm bored with it already. Nice to see this is pure Toei, with no 4Kids filtering, but even Toei had to doctor the tranformation sequence, Shame about the names though, but they kept the Japanese name for the No designed villain. I guess in North American it's alright for Japanese villains to have Japanese names, but not the blatantly obvious Japanese heroines, especially in Canada where there is a large population of Japanese expats.
This is Toei, their practices are akin to the unspeakable horrors found in any given HP Love craft writing and make about half the amount of scene. You are scientifically proven to go less insane with an encounter with cthulhu than one with Toei Company Japan.

I Mean, the dub is surprisingly good for something that's by Blue Water (Not that they can't do a good dub, just watch Zoids: Chaotic Century) but the editorial mandate is bonkers, they'll change names around and call Octopus Balls doughnuts (Pokemon from the year 1998 or so says hi) but they'll leave Japanese text all over the place.

That was 4 kids that did that, dubing studios just dub, the script butcheries are done elsewhere. And it was riceballs that got changed to donugts

because having a villain with a foreign name makes them sound bad

which i guess can be seen as slightly racist

Lol, those jelly filled doughnuts, when I seen them for the first time I remember thinking "holey crap, those geniuses putting jelly in a doughnut and not just any doughnut but that 'doughnut', I wonder where I can get one"

I realise now those "jelly filled doughnuts" as actually jam doughnuts and they don't look like that :(
That's cos in america
Jam is Jelly
Jelly is Gelatin Dessert

Edits to transformation sequence, you sure. Precure has no fanservice in it. May take a while for me to check.
Edit: Ep 1s is totaly identical

So them going all mercurial with digital masking of their naughty bits is on the original then?

Yep and "naughty bits" aren't drawn. No masking involved, it simply isn't there. At least on the TV version, and I'm not going to bother finding BD version to check.
This isn't Nanoha, it's aimed at komusume audience like they normaly are, not seinen.

Heh, "officially" aimed at, anyway. Precure is way more wide-reaching than simply being a joji anime, that's why it's the unstoppable force that it is.

Most of it's money will come from the blatent toy marketing aspect tho'; high TV ratings mean family audience e.g. parents buying for their children.
Be it, it does get some from figures and disk sales. But those won't be significant.

Well yes, it's broadcast on Sunday mornings after all, so it even has "actual" adverts and sponsors. CDs sell pretty well, too. I just don't agree that it is a joji anime "like they normaly are", because its popularity and approach to the genre is far more wide-ranging than normal.

I'm glad I stayed with this. This is turning into one of those "it gets better" titles. Thankfully I have recorded it on my Sky+HD box and so can zip passed the transformation sequence with is the most irritating and long winded I've seen in the "magic girl" genre. I must also add that so far the villains are the most laziest I've ever seen too.

That's not how you will address David Bowie, less he obliterates you with his Magical Bowie powers!

Like Mind Bullets!

That's Telekinesis, Kyle!

You think that one is bad, can't even get through 1 episode of Doremi due to how bad that one is.

PreCure and DoReiMi "suffer" from the same issue Digimon has in that the first arc is basicly set up for the larger story (the same thing happens in Sunrise shows like GaoGaiGar and Gundam Seed).

I hope that you're not implying that Natalie and Hannah - *Gets daggers stared at him* - I mean, Nagisa and Honoka are facing The Guild of Calamitous Intent. I dread to think how those two poor kids could face Bowie's Diamond Dogs.
