Podcast: Sound editor needed!

Hi AUKN members,

This is a call to anyone out there with decent sound editing skills and time on their hands to help us with the Nakama Britannica podcast. We are recording shows but are unable at this point to get them up as fast as we'd like because our editor disappeared. We are therefore on the hunt for a replacement.

This person would be responsible for editing the recordings, which are about 1.5-2 hours unedited. Mainly, this involves cutting away nonsensical or pointless parts of the audio so that the show sounds smooth, adding intro/outro songs, and making them available for archiving somewhere. Ideally, the editor would also take the recordings, but we can work around that if it's not too convenient.

To apply, respond in this thread with a few lines about why you'd be qualified for the job.

I myself am a fairly decent sound editor and do have my hands of some good software as well as quite a bit of free time to do what is required. I would like to apply for this post as i am sure i would be able to edit podcasts to satifactory quality as i listen to a lot of them and am aware of how they should flow and what quality they should be at.

Our saviour!

We're using skype to discuss any podcast related matters at the moment, so if you're okay with that, please just PM your details to either Vivis, Arby or myself and we'll get you onboard.

To whoever does it, please make this one something people can listen to. Sacrificing audio quality for people with crap internet isn't fair on people who pay for fast internet.

The second one has actually been recorded and is being edited at the moment, but I'm afraid it was done using the same software as last time, so I can't make any promises that the quality will be much different. I've put it through levellator and a noise reduction filter, but that's the best I can do I'm afraid.

We have since switched to other software though, so hopefully things should pick up as we go on.

I listened to it through my car stereo from my iPhone (ie. hardly the highest end of the audiophile world) and could hear everything fine. Obviously it wasn't on the level of some of the really Pro podcasts out there, but it was well ahead of most "first episodes" you hear.

I also just listened to it during my lessons at college today and quite enjoyed it

Hi, just bumping this up because we're still looking for more editors. We're ideally wanting a small pool of them to support us. We've got one dedicated, a second would be great.

Read first post for the kinds of things we expect the sound editor to do. Thank you!
