Announced at E3....

High street games shops have been told by Sony that there will be no PS3 pre-owned sections in their stores as it will be illegal for customers to sell any next-gen PlayStation games that they've bought, retail sources have revealed to GamesRadar. It seems that Sony is planning to adopt a licensing system that will mean gamers won't own the PS3 titles that they've paid money for. Instead, they will only be purchasing the licence to play the game and that the software itself will still be Sony property - meaning that the disc won't be the customer's to sell.

So basically your gonna pay 50 quid to rent a game from sony. But as a PlayStation fan I will have to put up with it it justmeans no cheap games... although when you think about it, they said the PSP would be uncopyable and that took all of 2 weeks before they were pirating the games.

Damned stupid idea! So they expect people to fork out an arm and leg for the system, then another wad of cash for the games, but if said person doesn't like the game, they can't even get some of their money back :?
I know that would put me off - good job I don't want one really.
(It's like the difference between having a mortgage and living in a council house  ).

Just seen Mangaminx's post - good thing and all! I can't see why Sony would cut their own throats like that @__@).

PS3 has been bad news for a while now..Sony made it worse after they announced the price for the console in the US..the price tag being the highest which i have seen about in my lifetime for a console and for what exactly? games that use 'blu-ray BD-rom' discs..and maybe act like a multimedia centre much like the 360. the tilt sensor on the controller only acts 8 ways, and it looks kinda fiddly to me..so i don't see much good about it. The only thing maybe are the titles due out for release on the PS3 console that make it slightly interesting, apart from that, nothing is. And if the idea of only getting a license to play a game rather than own it did actually happen, then i would most definitely not get one..and probably suggest to my brother and some others not to get one either..its silly really

What the hell, thats how Console keep alive. Through second hand games, too many people in the uk relies on second hand games to have fun and save money. Okay,so we're called Rip-off britain, but if that happens, then ps3 will really be hated by UK.Then soon, Us and Japan[probably because japan held a famistu poll about ps3 and Wii, and the Wii won] And what next, sony will leave the console buisness and someone like Sega make a return.

Sony should think that console survive through second hand game, but second hand games survive through people buying brand new games, so sony is still making money through one way.

Sony should really stick with the usual, I don't see MS and Nintendo complaining about second hand games. Probably because they ain't that greedy and Sony is. Ken katarigu, go to hell, I'm sure theres a different president for PS2.If there is, I like him better.
