The biggest anime convention of the year returns! In case you are new to this or wanted a refresher have no fear! Anime Expo is usually a 4 day event but now it's 5 days this year. It's where every major distributor from anime, books and even visual novels come together in one place for bringing folks updates and even new announcements. Bare in mind that the anime announcements are solely for US & Canada but they do offer hints at what could lead to a UK license.

Full Metal Panic 15th Anniversary Panel

Here are some details from the panel last night:

Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory, the fourth season in the franchise, will now be airing in Spring 2018. It was originally due for Autumn 2017 but delays occurred.

The promotional video indicated that the light novel villain Kurama and Amalgam soldier Lee Fowler will debut in the anime. Additionally, Mao will be promoted to Lieutenant with a new uniform, and several new mecha — including the anime appearance of Cyclone — will also appear.

Ponycan US Industry Panel

Yuki Yuna is a Hero Season 1 will be re-released as a complete series box set on Blu-ray. Due for July 10th, the set will contain all 12 episodes across 3 discs with English & Japanese audio with English & Spanish subtitles. It'll be a standard Blu-ray case for SRP $90.

Yuki Yuna is a Hero Seasons 2 will be simulcast this October. They have hinted a potential release of the Yuki Yuna movies but not for theatrical.

Sanrio Boys hasn't been acquired but is currently in negotiations when it airs this January.

Bandai Namco Industry Panel

.hack//G.U. Last Recode will be digital only for North America. Current formats are PlayStation 4 and Steam.

Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time is heading west for Early 2018. Current formats are PlayStation 4 and Steam.

Gundam Versus is due September 29th for North America. Game is PlayStation 4 only.

Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker is due for Early 2018. Current formats are PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The Japanese company have announced details on three upcoming anime titles:

Angolmois (Angolmois: Genkō Kassen-ki)
Based on the manga by Nanahiko Takagi, the anime is due for 2018. The manga is available on Kadokawa's ComicWalker app.

Chio's School Road (Chio-Chan no Tsugakuro)
Based on the manga by Kawasaki Tadataka, the anime is due for 2018. Story follows a girl whose road to school everyday is interrupted by everything from construction to biker gangs to needing to go to the bathroom. The manga serializes in Kadokawa's Comic Flapper magazine.

Some stunning title's! Almost spat out my tea when they announced the vending machine novel.

Sad they didn't pick up March comes in like a Lion, Amanchu or the Chivalry of a Failed Knight novel, ah well. I have too much on the go anyway :p

Upyo! I'm sure there's still a chance for them to happen.

I'm happy they got the Isekai Meme trilogy: Vending Machine, Slime Killing and Elf Bride in a Pizza Parlor. Need more Isekai novels.

I can't decide if I like the Speed Racer CE or not.

Wouldn't of thought it necessary to put out D Gray Man in parts but happy it's coming.

And the final announcement is an interesting one. MangaGamer will be producing visual novels themselves and have teamed up with Itaru Hinoue, the lead artist for a number of Key titles, for Koropokkur. This game will be available across MangaGamer's site, Steam and Japanese retailers however the whole project will be funded through Kickstarter. More news to follow on that.
