Once big anime fan, then wasn't... now is again!

Hey guys,

Been by here a few times and thought 'what the hey' I'll sign up.
I was a huge fan of the ol' skool greats back in the day, then lost myself and now finally I've come back to a love I almost lost - ANIME!
Another reason I thought about joining here was for the simple fact that no one I know in this city likes anime (or has even heard of it probably), so theres no one I can really share my passion with about it.
But at least we have a decent Forbidden Planet here, which stocks some nice anime and manga.

So hey you guys - I hope to stick around,

Konnichiha! 8)

Very cute avatar, welcome to the fold. We have quite a mix of ages/genders here.

What a wacky bunch you are :)
Do you guys organise any meet ups or anything like that...?
And how old is you lot?

Well, apart from expo's were all spread about the UK, so meet ups are pretty difficult.

for peoples age and sex/gender (i could seriously see that derailing if i left it at sex)
there's a thread which will inform you.

Hey welcome here. We have interesting people around here. Some young, other like me were able to see Akira premiere at cinemas.... >.<
So, what do you think about Hollywood Alita's adaptation?

Hello there.

Alita eh? haven't seen that in a while. They really need to re-release it. Do you prefer the classics or are you just getting back into anime?

I'll try to answer all here:

I've heard of James Cameron's idea of creating a live action Alita/Gumn movie and to be honest I'm not gonna get too excited to the idea until its cemented in congrete - as I know its still internet rumours.

There is a Alita eng-dub re-release doing the rounds somewhere but I hate it. I prefer the original eng-dub of the VHS release, the voices were spot on! Still got my copy when Channel 4 aired it ions ago.

I do adore the classics, but I am now trying to catch up with the likes of: Claymore (just finished and its whats brought me back in!), 5 Centimeters Per Second (wish more anime was like that!), Death Note (need to get round to watching that) and recently Egor Proxy.

It is hard to find whats out that, as I recall, back in day when 'Manga Video' first burst out onto the scene (early 90s) you only had a few selections to choose from. Now you can get lost in it completely! So its abit difficult to know whats hot and whats not sometimes :)
