British band Oasis, fronted by Noel Gallagher, are set to have their song Falling Down used as the opening theme for production IG's upcoming anime Eden of the East, the official anime site has announced.
"The series begins on November 22, 2010 with a missile strike against an uninhabited area of Japan, claiming no victims. This apparent terrorist act is referred to as "Careless Monday" and disregarded by most people. Three months later, in the United States of America, a young Japanese woman named Saki Morimi is visiting Washington D.C. as part of her graduation trip. When she gets into trouble, a mysterious Japanese man, who introduces himself as Akira Takizawa, helps her through it. The man appears to have no memory and is completely naked, carrying only a gun and a cell phone charged with 8.2 billion yen in digital money."
The series is set to start airing in Japan on April 9th, while the introduction of a British band's song being used in a Japanese animation follows on from such shows as Serial Experments Lain Op "Duvet" by Boa and Speed Grapher's "Girls On Film" by Duran Duran.

What odds this gets pulled from world release because of the same reason? I'm curious if the Gallagher bros know about anime, or at least seen a title, or two.

i have no idea, they dont seem the type if im honest, but you never know, i like the idea of Noel and Liam watching Haruhi after a gig!

I'm not really an Oasis fan, but the cross over is still interesting. As is the anime concept - a naked man with a gun and a phone? Sounds like the start of some weird joke..

That and Production I.G. is a solid assurance of quality.

Sounds good, not so sure about this anime but I do like English music in anime. I didn't know the other two were made by English bands but I haven't listened to either band. (I did like the songs though, I have duvet as my mobile message tone.)
