Next Gainax show set in Great Britain during 1900–1930?

Yeah, I won't pretend my hopes haven't shot down here. I can't see myself easily adjusting to a show with characters named Panty and Stocking. I was hoping for something along the lines of a mature (no not like that) steampunk drama. Nevermind...

There may still be some hope. Jtor have posted a magazine scan that shows the characters in a sort of grungey New York type setting, so fingers crossed the 1930s Britain one is something else entirely.

Another update. Apparently the new series is going to be based on a novel about a boy and a girl who collect magical books. I shouldn't have got my hopes up for Ultimate Detective Team Poirot or Shin Getter Jeeves and Wooster :(

When I heard about it and saw that, Prof - I thought about this:
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UYjCNlGny3c&hl=en_GB&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UYjCNlGny3c&hl=en_GB&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

I also thought, oh gawd, NOOOOO!!!! XD

Another nugget of information, courtesy of ANN.

Apparently it's to be called "Dantalian no Shoka" and concerns young man meets a girl who handles forbidden books of demonic wisdom. Sounds sort of vaguely similar to Armed Librarians.

Asura Cryin' wasn't that bad. The world was ok just all the character designs sucked. More importantly was this writen before or after. Index started off appalingly but got better as the author got used to writing it.

This was written well after Asura Cryin', but I really don't like that. It's certainly not up there with things I would think "this is something Gainax can really turn into a winner".

And I really don't think Index started off appallingly at all. Admittedly I'm only currently reading it, so it's perhaps slightly tinted by my pre-exisinting love of the franchise from watching the anime.
