News about Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle Series 2...

I recently wrote to Revelation Films to try and find out some information about whether or not they would be releasing the blu-ray version of Series 1 for Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle and Series 2 in both volume and box set formats.

Unfortunately their reply was not a good one...

Hi Liam,

Thank you for your e-mail.

Unfortunately, Revelation Films do not have any plans for Blu-Ray releases
or the second season of 'Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle' on DVD in the UK.

I would advise that you contact FUNimation directly if you need any more
information about their plans with the UK releases.

Sorry that I could not be of any more help.

Regards,
Pria

I'll try and send an e-mail off to FUNimation later on, but for now, assume that we won't be getting the rest of this series. I would assume that's why Manga is now releasing FMA:Brotherhood instead of Revelation too.

They never completed Beck, did they? I got like, four of them so I want them to complete that before they get around to doing BD shiz.

To be honest I think they're stopping anime sales completely. I was originally going to pick up their BECK volumes, but decided in the end to order the R1. Maybe Manga will pick up their releases..

Manga is already picking up loads from Funimation. For some reason, Navarre decided that it's better to released Funimation licenses through Manga (who belongs to Starz) rather than release through Revelation (which belongs to Navarre).

Go figure that out
=P

Anyway, i'm pretty sure Manga wouldn't release their stuff as singles. As box set maybe...

It is because things like this that I got a multi-region blu-ray player.

It means I have more choice over what to buy and where I can buy it from.

Mind if I ask where you bought it and which model? ^___^;

And yeah, seems strange for Navarre to not release their own stuff through their own company in the UK. I won't pretend that I understand business though!

You can pick up a decent multi-region (via a remote code) Blu-ray player from ALDI for about £120.
Every multi-region I've seen has cost upwards of $400 and needed importing. Presuming that's true, It must surely be rubbish, mustn't it? If it is decent quality that's going to be very hard to resist.

And it plays both multi-region blu-ray discs and DVDs? Might have to look into that one... What make is the player?

Also, you say remote code, where did ya find it? Trying to look into some stuff now..

Yeah, you can find the remote code on AVForums, can make it region free Blu-ray and your choice of region DVD, but you have to change it again to watch a different region DVD.

Here's the AVForums thread, actually:

I bought one myself the other week as a secondary player and for the odd hard-coded Zone B title, had to take one back as it was freezing, but got it replaced and this one has been fine.

ayase: it's not the best BD player you're ever going to find, I certainly still use my PS3 when I can, but it's perfectly serviceable as your first entry into the market.

Sorry for the late reply. I just got home from work.

I paid £399.00 plus £10.00 shipping for my blu-ray player.

This is a link to the place I got it from,

http://www.mrmdvd.com/catalog/product_i ... ts_id=1014

Currently it is £309.00 plus you can get 7 free blu-rays.

I got my player end of April so the price has gone down but I don't mind as it is a good player.

It plays dvds from all regions (no code is needed). It also plays blu-rays from all regions but you have to change the region via the remote - turn off the player (making sure there is no disc in it). Then press 1 for region A, 2 for region B and so on.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that Mangaman. I still don't have a reason to need a multi-region bluray player, but I'm really glad there are some for sale now.

Yeah, thanks Mangaman, I'll take a look at that one! Hopefully buy a machine come January when my paycheck comes though...

Back on the topic of Tsubasa, I contacted FUNimation... their reply was simply that "they don't know about UK releases, but the US release is out soon!"

Think importing is a must now.. ^__^;

It's not just Tsubasa that is coming out soon. Over then next few months the following are listed for release on amazon.com,

Witchblade: The Complete Series
Basilisk: The Complete Series
Samurai Champloo: The Complete Series
Gunslinger Girl: The Complete Series
Heroic Age:The Complete Series
D.Grayman: Season 1 Part 1
Vexille

None of these have been announced for UK release yet.

It looks like it's going to be an expensive Xmas & New Year for me.

They'd better be, if the UK companies know what's good for them - Now that I know I can get a £120 multi-region BD player there's very little to stop me (or anyone else) importing.
