Hunter x Hunter 2011
Original Japanese title: Hunter x Hunter
Viz Media have announced the anime rights to the on-going but on-hiatus shounen series that has been in the middle of a bidding war for many months now. With the 148 episode reboot on-hold due to being caught up with the original manga source material, many fans were wondering about the anime rights. Viz Media have also added some additional notes including confirmation that the show itself will receive an English audio track and will be available on Blu-ray as well as DVD.

Re: New Viz Media Manga Licenses: Haikyuu!!, Kuroko's Basketball, Black Clover + More

Interesting to see Black Clover already, I guess it's doing pretty well for itself although it often feels too much like Naruto for me.

Haikyuu!! and Kuroko's Basketball are good picks though, excited to see how well they do! Not the biggest sports manga fan, but I'll probably give both of these a chance. :D

Let's just hope that doesn't also include UK rights, and somebody good can get it instead of Kaze.

Awesome to see Yona of the Dawn licensed :) Will pick it up since I loved the anime.

It's the manga not the anime.

I am screaming with joy at finally be able to get Haikyu!! and Kuroko no Basket manga. Also interested in Black Clover

I think he meant Hunter x Hunter which is the anime.

I'd buy Hunter x Hunter on BD for sure, be nice if someone in the UK got it but I'll import if not announced by the time it comes out over there.

Yeah, I didn't quote as directly followed on from a link to the HxH anime announcement.

I don't really like that type of show (well, I like all the examples I watch, I just can't last more than 25 or so episodes...), but it'd be a massive shame if we were subjected to a Kaze cluster**** special of HxH.

I am happy about the Hunter X Hunter 2011 series being picked up.

I am hoping the Hunter X Hunter 1999-2001 series will be licensed recued.

Viz own the rights to HxH V1, dub and all (as if they were expecting it to get Adult Swim / Toonami Airtime just as CN and [AS] were looking to be the most antagonistic to Japanese content possible, so yeah, that didn't happen, obviously) and we didn't get that so...

I fully expect them to yank the show from Netflix and to never release it over here in the same standard-substandard way we're (not) getting Sailor Moon here.

Except, Viz is not a European company, Viz does not operate in Europe. Weirdly, Viz Media Europe is an entirely separate company, and they will list it separately when Viz Media Europe acquires rights to a title. (One-Punch Man's PR explicitly stated it had been co-licensed by ACJ, Viz and Viz Europe.) So unless you see something that specifically mentions Viz Media Europe, I wouldn't assume Viz has UK rights.

Anyway, I believe Crunchyroll has the series until 2039, so it's a few more years before you need to worry about it's availability.

Well, it's not even the same company, blaming them is like an American refusing to watch films by Sony Pictures, because they don't like Aniplex of America's business model...

I see viz's name, I see a comapny not willing to do business (or make a complete and utter hash of it via Kaze and Animax) ether by locking it down via their extremily crappy EU arm or by, from all aperences, not doing good business (ether recieving offers to release their shows or getting the shows out there for international markets to purchace)

And also a company that region locks digital comics which, at this point, should be a flogable offence.

It's not their EU arm, it's an entirely separate company with a similar name, and at no point has Viz even said it has UK rights to Sailor Moon, and comments on the AL podcast clearly seemed to indicate they don't. So blaming them for not releasing it is silly.

Also, I don't think Viz can possibly have UK rights to SM, seeing as the UK is handled by Toei Animation Europe, and NA clearly isn't. Why would they go to multiple licensers for a region they technically don't even serve?

Whilst Sailor Moon is like hte big giant pointy arrow, it's hardly the worst of it.

This is the same company that will, for sake of example, flood your inbox about how you should buy One Punch Man only for it to be Digital Only which means it's region lock (or was at time of poke).

I noticed it's not available digitally over here on SJ's own site, but is there not a paperback? I'm sure it came out 2/3 weeks ago?
