New UK anime DVD release dates reaching into the summer

Off course I didn't believed that they weren't going to release the popular movie...

I was hoping a official confirmed of the release, and release date by Play or Amazon doesn't ease me as I learned the hard way when they keep delaying KH2 that time ages ago....

YAY, Special Edition sets, Need more money...

Looks like I'll be carrying on with collecting Naruto then! I won't be going for the Gunslinger Girl box set since I collected them individually but I'd recommend it to the rest of you because it really is a good series.

Mushishi on the other hand...there isn't much I can say that I haven't said before about how goddamned awesome the show is. We're really, really fortunate to see it being on the release schedule already. I can't wait!

here it is again the normal hate manga and love adv rubbish we had over the years online. there have been a few comments about manga releasing loto on the 2nd collection box but no comment about adv releasing the awful kakko kamen on dvd here, that show is much worse than loto.
i guess manga are going by sales which loto has always had very good sales.

Its not about hating MANGA. I love MANGA. However you 'do not' put something like loto as part of a set designed to 'introduce' people to Anime. It’s as bad as putting Pokemon in one of these sets it just perpetuates the myth that anime is porn.

In so doing they have done a great dis-service and something that might have a negative effect on the industry as a whole... or maybe I am just a pessimist.

I say you're a pessimist. :p Perfect Blue alone would probably be enough for a lot of people to dismiss anime as a load of misogynistic porn (based on surface value anyway - it doesn't matter if the film is good). Urotsukidoji would just be the icing on the cake.

...and for the record, I'm totally looking forward to Kekko Kamen!

Maybe putting in something like Tetsujin would have evened things out?
It sold poorly, so maybe it would encourage more sales... they're never going to release volume 3 are they? *hopes for a cheap boxset*

I've not seen Legend of the Overfiend (and from what I've heard of it, I have no desire to see it either) but it is, indeed, ridiculous to place it in an "essentials" box set.

People who do not have Perfect Blue are indeed, missing out. It is an excellent movie, and with a character who does actually make my flesh crawl as he is intended to (creepy stalker man). However, no collection is in any way incomplete without LOTO. It is a stupid move to place it in the collection.

On the revelation front, I will be buying Gunslinger Girl when I have the money, aswell as Tsubasa, Peach Girl, Mushishi and some of their current releases when I have the chance. It's good to see a company taking our market seriously. Hopefully Revelation will continue like this for many years to come.

However people view it (and personally I detest the movie) Legend of the Overfiend is still one of the top selling titles from Manga's catalogue. I wouldn't personally rate it as an essential myself but for many on the outer fringes it is. It just so happens that reality isn't nice sometimes :(.

Hopefully the severe drop in prices the UK has been experiencing will boost figures so that other better series/movies become better sellers so we can move away from LA Blue Girl, the Darkness series and Overfiend standing on the undeserved top spots.

People who see Perfect Blue as nothing more than excuse for violence and nudity are complete idiots.
This is true, it's a great film. But I have seen it mentioned on TV and they only showed clips from 'that' scene. (if you've seen it, you know the one I mean) It's easy to misrepresent stuff which has stronger content, especially out of context. :?

(Satoshi Kon ftw!)

If they did a third set. What do you think Manga would put in it? Probably junk like Vampire Hunter D and Golgo 13 to live up to the 'Manga' stereotype... :x (although I'll admit they have their charms!)
