The Tales hype is continuing with a brand new announcement in the form of a new anime!

Tales of Zestiria will soon be released on PlayStation 3 by Bandai Namco Entertainment and the just recently announced Tales of Beseria is coming soon to PlayStation 3 and 4 in the future.

Previous Tales games (though not all) have also received anime adaptations:
- Tales of Eternia
- Tales of Phantasia
- Tales of Symphonia: Sylvarant Chapter & Tethe'alla Chapter
- Tales of the Abyss
- Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave (Specials)
- Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike (prequel to Vesperia)
- Tales of Zestiria: Doushi no Yoake (covers the first bits of Zestiria)

Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike have been licensed by Funimation for home release (The First Strike is available now as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack while Abyss will be coming soon as a subtitle only release). The First Strike has also been released over here in the UK by Manga Entertainment on both Blu-ray and DVD.

You'll probably need to have played Tales of Zestiria game (which should be released sometime this year in the UK). The other Tales are standalone.

Update on source:

Update: The animeanime.jp website initially reported that the anime is an adaptation of Tales of Zestiria, but it updated its article so that it only states that it is an adaptation of the Tales of franchise. Bandai Namco Entertainment also characterizes the anime as a Tales of project, and not an adaptation of Tales of Zestiria specifically.

Judging by the trailer, the upcoming adaptation might include characters from Xillia 1 and 2 so it made sense it's not entirely focused on Zestiria.
