New Manga Releases - 19/05/2015

One thing I'd love to know is the kind of relationship the UK's various manga publishers have with UK stockists and the breakdown of sales. ie. do most sales come online via Amazon, or are lots of fans picking up their copies from places like Forbidden Planet, WH Smith and Waterstones?

For example, the WH Smith by my work regularly gets new stock in, but it's pretty much entirely Viz titles. Waterstones on the other hand seems to also stock a good spread across all publishers/even fairly niche titles, and in smaller stores too.

I'd love to know if manga sells more or less than anime in the UK too.

You would think it "must" work well for them, but then you would have thought it "must" have been working well for ADV when they were releasing an unreasonable number of anime in the same week way back when. ^^;

It's quite commonplace for publishers to release everything from the same label at the same point in each month (which can be the xth, the 2nd Tuesday or whatever). It gives them a clear structure to work with, enabling each stage of the publishing process for everything being released that month to be done together, rather than creating a separate schedule for each and every volume.

It's just people don't usually notice because in most cases the majority of readers don't even pay attention to the publishing label that a book comes from.
Releasing them all at the same time was not so much the issue, it was more the number of different titles they're now releasing.
