New Initial D Anime Announced

This year's 35th issue of Kodansha's Young Magazine is announcing on Monday that a new anime series adaptation of Shuuichi Shigeno's Initial D car-racing manga has been green-lit. The format of the new anime series — be it a television anime, original video anime, or another format — and other details have not been revealed. More details will be provided in the combined 36th/37th issue of the magazine on August 6.

I've never watched Initial D but I love some of the Eurobeat music used from it! :)

The OST is pretty fantastic. It's one of my favourites. You should give the show a watch. It's pretty damn good.

A new series of the anime made for the Gran Turismo fanbase? This news just made my day :eek: I watched stages 2&3 last week and was going to buy stage 4 at the weekend.
 
I LOVE Initial D! I'm a big D1 fan too (Japanese drifting championship).

I cant wait for these 4 episodes. Though they are basically the proper end of the 5th stage as they follow directly on.

Also after seeing the new trailer for the first film I cant wait for that. Its a retelling with much much much better animation!

Also I was actually listening to D Non-Stop Mega Mix at work last night, man that makes the time fly by. I like it my car to, but need to be careful as it make me get a heavy right foot.

In fact I also have nothing but Initial D music playing when playing Gran Turismo, it really fits well.

The live action video they are watching a few episode into the 1st stage is his dvd called Drift Bible. I have it on dvd (its also on youtube).
 
Nice! Hope Funimation picks this up. Wonder how likely though due to the series going to the SAVE line very fast.
 
I hope so, but the 5th stage isn't out yet so it could be a while. Looks like fansub is the way to go for the time being with this one. I will preorder any Initial D with subtitles that will come out.

As far as I know it went stright to SAVE after they rescued it from the butchered Tokyopop version, redubbing it and removing the terrible "tricked out" version.

I got rid of my Tokyopop dvd and only have the SAVE versions of the first 4 stages. Plus with reversible covers it looks much better.
 
As far as I have read a while ago, Funimation will probably not pick any more Initial D cause the other ones sold really poorly. Neverthless, I hope they do so we can have everything.

US is not a big market for sport anime (some websites keep stating that) and Initial D goes into that. Shame no ones is picking up Hajime no Ippo, among others good sport titles that OOP.
