I do wanna buy boxsets, i'll get the Hellsing boxset and the Tenjho Tenge boxset when I can afford them. I just think all the vilumes looks great on a shelf and some of the artwork is really good on the front covers and inside covers

I agree with you as we are now weary, since Manga Ent were the first to do it to us, and then ADV doing it now. However in some occasions buying singles can be better if the price of the single DVDs is cheap thanks to sales (for example when it first came out the Zone of the Enders boxset was £60 while the single vol releases added up to £30 in the sales)

Not a bad list there. I have all of those and would say they are all okay but would probably avoid buying Divergence Eve and Misaki Chronicals if I had the choice again.

Grenadier, Witchblade and Black Cat are a couple of titles that may fit in with the type of thing on your list.

I'll just say, don't do what I did.

I'd watched the first few episodes and as they cracked me up I watched the rest in a mad marathon session to cheer myself up when I was feeling low... Afterwards I was bawling my eyes out and ended up in a suicidal depression for about a week. Ended up having to see a shrink over it. :?
 
from your list I'd start with Gantz, then Tenjho Tenge, I haven't seen the others, but I heard one too many bad things about divergence eve to bother.

From the list of things you're watching, I wold recommend
ROD (OVA's and TV series)
Ghost in the shell franchise - go chronologically for better understanding
Evangelion
Appleseed movies

As your list only had action /adventure titles, that's my recommendations.

Don't go near Excel Saga, Haruhi, Welcome to NHK or Lucky Star just yet - they are series more focused on parody / fandom, which I think it's hard to appreciate if you're new to anime, they are amazing series though.
