Had a interesting conservation with some mates today about what shows would make interesting anime shows. supernartual had been turned into a anime so i was wondering what shows you guys would like to be turned into a anime?

Ones that we came up with were

Merlin
Doctor Who
Lost
Misfits
Lost
Chuck
The Inbetweeners
Being Human
Alias
Xena
Sherlock
The IT Crowd
Torchwood
X Files
Red Dwarf

Manga:
Magical x Miracle
Yotsuba&

Japanese novels:
Junk Force

English novels:
Pern series
Discworld series
Starstormers series
Trillions

games:
System Shock (don't know how it could work as an anime, but darn it I want more Shodan)

There already is a Being Human - it's called Magipoka (at least, that's what I thought when I first heard the premise of Being Human, never actually seen the show)

Merlin – could work as a episodic tale, 13ep series at best. (too westernised)
Doctor Who – why? Just why?
Lost – no, the storyline is too complex and being able to emote all the things they do in lost is very hard to animate, wouldn’t come off well
Misfits – no idea
Lost – works better as it is
Chuck - no
The Inbetweeners - love the show as it is, just wouldn’t work on the same level.
Being Human – no idea
Alias – no idea
Xena – please don’t say the warrior princess, just…no
Sherlock – already have Sherlock hound…so it’s a possibility that this could work
The IT Crowd – nope
Torchwood – possibility of becoming a good anime adaptation, or could turn out like ben 10 *shudders*
X Files – personally found them boring,
Red Dwarf – loved the series, unsure if it would work…strangely enough we already have cowboy bebop which is similar but far superior

Personally, something non generic, the idea that for a show to be really good it has to have as long a series life as DBZ is annoying and plain boring.

However, i think the naruto manga has a good long running storyline so its not like DBZ or bleach which are one fight after another and the constant "uber powering up/talking for 3 episodes before clashing for 2 minutes of battle then just as the guy is about to be beaten, becomes uber uber strong" (Yes i'm looking at every single evil character from DBZ and Aizen from bleach.

Atleast increases in power are explained in naruto, not just a random increase of power out of thin air.

Advance wars - already animated, would just need one of the games stories told in an anime, i think it would work well.

Okay, that's a stretch, but it might be nice to see some satire-based comedy for a change instead of parodies and manzai gags.

Would be nice if they'd do an anime adaptation for Drops of God. I don't much fancy the J-drama, so it'd be nice to see some wine-chugging/treasure-hunting action in anime form.

Incidentally, two of the Discworld novels were animated some years back by Cosgrove Hall (I think). Personally though, I couldn't stand the artwork and I didn't think the humour of the books really came through on the screen.

i think CSI could work nicely, along with NCIS as well, i think A Hero Of Our Time would work nicely as well, for some reason while reading it, i had the image in my head of all the characters being manga styled

Come Dine With Me:
A comedy, about five people hosting dinner parties and they do not get along.
Wallace & Grommit:
A mecha anime about a man and his dog, who invent contraptions and robots against many rivals.

I've actually thought about a Chuck one before. It's a WB show, and Supernatural is being turned into one due to that connection, so theoretically - it could happen. It'd be totally bizarre since its quite ingrained in '80/90s American pop culture, but if it got localized it'd be real interesting. Probably really bad and keeping itself together (since the show is, as a whole) but... I dunno.

The closest thing to Lost in anime, imo, is DRRR, so I think it could work. They weren't able to do everything needed in the show, and some points could be lost (Nikki & Paulo) but I think it could be pretty successful. It could fill in some of the blanks the show left. A locale like that ain't see too often.

The X-Files would be totally crazy as one. Similarly to Lost, it could sort out a couple of the mythos problems. The male/female "on-the-job" idea that's prevalent all over US procedurals is quite lacking in anime, so that'd be interesting. Seeing adult at all in anime would be pretty interesting.

The Inbetweeners basically exists as Panty & Stocking. Merlin is Smallville, except seeing an anime Clark Kent would be ten-fold more badass. Alias, nah; Red Dwarf, seriously? Wouldn't work; Dr. Who/Torchwood, I haven't read the comics so it all depends. Some messing around with the mythology could deliver a fun show, but it would never capture the spontaneity of the live action. The IT Crowd/Big Bang Theory could be hilarious, it'd all have to be meta and otaku centric, but I think this is touching upon the best idea here, both shows are amazingly mediocre so it wouldn't be hard for the anime (if done correctly) to blow them out of the park.

I'm just going to chuck Buffy, Angel and Firefly in the mix, okay? They would all work, at different levels, but still they definitely would work. So world Veronica Mars - a teenage private detective with a murder mystery in the middle, it has to happen!.

BSG/Star Wars could be intriguing. Same for Terminator: TSCC and I'd freaking love an anime Community, it could tie in with my BBT/IT Crowd one, only it would have a hell of a lot to live up to.

Big Bang Theory!
I don't know how it would work, what the point would be or how it would benefit. But it would definitely be awesome after how can you combine two things that good and come up with something that isn't excellent. Like chocolate and steak :)

I think Scrubs could of been made into an anime, but I dont think it will contribute anything towards to the LA. I can imagine when something happens and when one of the cast thinks of a situation (I.e. "what if."), they could have a thought-bubble effect or even zoom away from the character with just something displayed in the background.
Other than that, the comedy wouldn't be much funnier, or even give the same impact.
