New Anime Releases 25/11/2013

I might get this series. I've reviewed the manga of it for the latest MyM so I would like to see how the two differ from each other.

Disappointed MVM dropped the Blu-ray version, and for the lack of OVA included in any version. I'll pick Sentai's up later next year if they fix that english audio issue.

Damn, I have that Sentai release on my to watch pile right now. They really need to up their QC, seems like they have missing audio or mis-timed subs on far too many releases

The issue was missing english audio for a few seconds in the final episode, so it's probably a minor issue.

Definitely picking up Another. Saddened by the lack of Blu-ray release for this one too, but at the same time I'm pretty sure I'd only pick up the DVD anyways.

Feels like a long time since I first watched this show, quite looking forward to revisiting it~

Yes from what I can see it's just a small bit of audio, but the wider issue is they seem to have these little glitches spread across a lot of releases.

I shouldn't need to say this at all, but the visual upgrade for this show (Including pretty much every other show nowadays) is definitely worth importing the BD for. It's ridiculous that shows are still getting DVD only releases, let alone DVD releases at all considering it's 2013 and every show is animated in HD.

Waiting for Amazon to dispatch.

EDIT: Original post refered to Another. It was dispatched on Monday.

Perfect Blue dispatched today from Amazon.

Studio Ghibli steelbooks are of interest to me, but as I already have standard BDs of these films the price will need to drop to about a tenner each for me to consider double-dipping. The exception being Ponyo, as I have the special edition BD and prefer it to any steelbook.

To be fair the amount of people with a BD player against those with a DVD player is still fairly slim, so the DVD option should always be there even if it does mean lesser quality.

When buying BD, personally, it comes down to how much money I have and how often the series is going to be rewatched. While Another is likely very, very nice with the upgraded visuals it's also a series I'll likely only watch once, maybe twice in the space of a year. It's not something like SAO or Guilty Crown (as recently released examples), that I'll watch maybe four or five times a year and will also be sharing with my family. The visual upgrade just isn't worth the cost of importing for this one, and I'm not too sure I'd have paid the extra amount if it had made it out over here either.

BD really are a show by show case for me. Just depends what it is. ^^

Not getting this since I would prefer a bd release so I will probably get the Region A bd at some point. With regards to the weeks releases what about the four Ghibli steelbooks that are out,

I'm getting this but only the sentai version since it has the ova

Sentai's release doesn’t have the OVA either.

What about the special for the UK releases

Yes, the UK release includes the special.

The Another Special lasts 4 minutes, and unfortunately isn’t the prequel OVA which was released two months after the end of the series broadcast in Japan. It is instead a music video featuring an SD Mei Misaki.

You can pretty much blame the BBFC for that, since if the UK didn't have some stupid rule (or law) that requires the rating to be printed on the disc label then UK distributors could share BD stock with the US distributors (like the Australian distributors can since they don't have that restriction which is why the UK BD release of Another went down the toilet).

Oh for crying out loud! How come no-one tells me about these things?

Surprise! Well while you're at it, you might as well add Perfect Blue's Blu-ray release as Andrew has confirmed it's being dispatched.
