New Anime Releases 23/03/2014

I'll be upgrading my Durarara DVD's to BD at some point, hopefully I can get the CE but if I have to make do with the SE then so be it. I did originally have it down for preorder but bringing the release date forward made it conflict with other stuff financially, so it will have to wait until April/May.

Gonna get Tiger and Bunny. Still on the fence about DRRRR since I have the Beez DVDs and don't care about dubs.

If you really like the series, buy it because you cant even compare BD quality to DVD, Its totally worth it. :D

Don't have the technology to play BD's.

Ok :) When you do, you will be amazed about how much difference there is in quality. I can tell myself, I knew there was but once I have noticed in front on my eyes, I shocked. Not going back to buy dvd's unless its not worth on BD. :)

Just ran into HMV and saw the Blood C: The Last Dark Collector's is £19.99. I had asked Manga UK on Twitter, presuming that would have just been the RRP. Not worth spending £7 more for just a slipcover and a few artcards.

HMV's anime prices are creeping up again, they had dropped for a while.

I've always found HMV's prices hit or miss. Sometimes, they're really good (like for the CE of Wolf Children) and sometimes they're terrible. (£45 for the Chobits box set)

Just a random curious point - I received my copy of Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning today and I noticed on the back that it's labelled as 1080i. I did some digging and apparently the US release is 1080p? The difference between 1080p and 1080i isn't that much and not something that's a personal concern to me, but I know there are other people who do care about that kind of thing.

I also noticed that Kotetsu is on the DVD art, while Barnaby is on the blu-ray. I see what you did there Anime Limited =3. The overall presentation is amazing - I love the feel of the booklet (although I think there was a slight printing error as one of the pages on mine has ever so slight crease across it).

Half the time the picture info on the back of Anime Ltd releases is incorrect anyway :p At least they've stopped labelling the resolution as the 'aspect ratio'. Can't imagine them somehow releasing a 1080i disc for Tiger and Bunny...right?

"Aspect Ratio: 1920 x 1080i"

On a plus side, the back of the box claims to have 5.1 Audio (it just says: "Audio: Japanese, English 5.1" so does that mean the Japanese is 5.1 as well, or just the English?).

The Durarara!! Set doesn't list it as aspect ratio, so that's a win for them!

edit - You'd have thought they'd settle on a standard grid for all the info to help alleviate these discrepancies?

Tiger and Bunny: The Beginning is 1.78:1 widescreen 1080p
Audio is DTS-HD MA 5.1 Surround English and Japanese.

There is a single translated English subtitle track.
So it was just a mislabelling? Good =3.

Well, technically 1920:1080 is a ratio.
True, but the box says 1920 x 1080. Which isn't. :p

Heh I'm just being flippant. Aspect ratio does use x and : interchangeably. Even the big studio releases seem to mess up the tech stuff on back quite often.

Sometimes the HMV undercuts the price on Amazon, sometimes their price is rather silly (£30 for a series costing £20 online).

Sadly the 2 nearest HMVs (Salisbury & Newbury) to me closed last year, I did have a look in the anime blu-ray section of Bournmouth HMV on saturday and it was kinda poor. Most of the titles weren't even Anime (animated batman?)

The List is missing "Blood C: The Last Dark", which says a lot about how many people are going to buy it.EDIT: Beaten to it.
My copy is in the post. Didn't mention it earlier as I have not long turned my laptop on. As for the others, I already own the AOA DRRR!! bds while I don't yet own the Tiger & Bunny series so the movie is on hold for now.

Yup they all have dubs.

Quite often Amazon uses placeholder information in their technical breakdowns. I'd say when in doubt, check the distributor's site. Or ask here :D
Nice one, thanks for confirming...in that case, I'll be getting both eventually!

(With some much appreciated help) I have bought Durarara!!. :D I'm very happy to own this. ^_^

I wanted to get the Blood-C The Last Dark LE, but it being a HMV exclusive makes things way less desirable, so I think I'll just get the regular BD edition somewhere later this year.

As for "Tiger & Bunny the Beginning" I told what the situation was before, but I have to admit the Anime Ltd unboxing for it looks pretty neat. But for now it's a no-go getting this.
