New Anime Releases 17/06/2013

The only reasonable excuse anyone has for not buying Bakemonogatari is if they're waiting for the Blu-ray (which I'd recommend). It's a great and there's nothing else quite like it. And dat cover art is <3

Already got Bakuman a few weeks ago, I'm waiting on the BluRay for Bakemono, and Last Exile looks interesting so I'll pick it up at some point.

The cover art is indeed lovely. Then the price is pretty good as well! I've heard how different it is and that it's very unique in it's approach to art style (which I like!).

Think I might have to add another order for this month... sorry money

I already have Bakemonogatari and Last Exile. Bakuman's release quality is such that I will continue to wait for a US license rescue.

May I ask what problems the uk Bakuman release has? I was thinking of getting it(love the manga) and if it is a big deal then I wil also wait for the US to sort it out.

Well having reviewed it, I can tell you that main issue I had with it is that the subtitling is rubbish and to make things worse there is no dub on this release so the subs are your only choice. I do prefer the manga it has to be said. I believe the series is already out in the US.

It sounds like a textbook example of how not to do a UK release. The limitations of DVD-only and sub-only were out of Kaze's control (realistically), but presenting a PAL-converted DVD with weird sound, locked subtitles and a script that was never checked by a native English speaker makes it a release that was designed to appeal to almost nobody.

It's a shame because there's no US release (they only released the first few episodes over there then lost the rights) so Kaze had every opportunity to capture Bakuman fans with their version. And instead they chose to demonstrate why cutting costs will end up being a bad thing for UK anime fans. I could not in good conscience support this kind of release even if my standards were lower than they are.

Waiting for the Bakemono BD, not interested in Last Exile at the moment and any chance of me taking a look at Bakuman has be shot to pieces by the abysmal subtitling.

Already own the R1 dvd release of Last Exile (singles with an artbox) so I will only buy again when it gets a blu-ray release. If I get Bakemonogatari it will be as a blu-ray release. Bakuman isn't something I am in a rush to own (even more so after hearing some of the above comments on the UK release) so I'll pass on that for the time being.

Very slim chance I double dip on Bakemonogatari just to own a DVD version, but already own LE, and the Bakuman release seems... yeah...
