It's about time 5cm Per Second made it out over here. I won't be buying, though, as I was one of the seemingly lucky few who picked up the R1 release before ADV disappeared in a puff of smoke. If ever an anime film deserved the Blu-ray treatment, it would be 5cm Per Second, and it's a crying shame that licensing ******** prevents it from happening.

Beautiful, heart-wrenching film. Anyone yet to see it owes it to themselves to buy the DVD.

The only reason i'm still holding out for the film, In its own right it's fantastic and compelling to watch, but its also drawn droppingly (is that a word?) georgous and after seeing the 1080p fansub I cant go back to watching it on normal DVD. lets hope manga pick up the blu ray licence aswell!

It is, but isn't the phrase "jaw-droppingly [gorgeous]" ? Droppingly in and of itself doesn't make sense, so the sentence would need an adjective, which makes it: "it is drawn jaw-droppingly gorgeous". Or something. I need to really scrub up on my English.

They can't. Thery're releasing dvd only as they've given up hope on getting the BD rights.
1080p version will stay fansub only for a few years yet.
Pleanty of other high profile BDs in that boat as well.

I was another of the lucky few to get 5cm Per Second on R1 dvd before ADV went under (I also got a twin pack of Voices of a Distant Star & The Place Promised in Our Early Days).
