Yes and no. I like open endings to a degree, but there has to be some closure, and some degree a drawing together of what has gone before. Good examples would be FLCL, or Ashitsure baby. The former had an ending which was open to interpretation, and the latter just seemed like a break in a larger story but gave closure to a lot of the idea and story threads.If at all possible try not to compare the two while watching them, or if you are try looking for the differences. Rahxephon is the offspring of Eva, so there are similarities on the surface. Look beyond those to see the gem inside.
