Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days

came out of nowhere for me, and i know a few people here said they wished there was something like this out

If your wondering what it is, its the american name for the Girlfriend of Steel series (that was mentioned here once with a few illegal links so i'm sure someone has had a look :p)

its just got a US release this week, and is penciled in for a UK release in august.

Its a retelling of the Evangelion world from the dream world of Shinji's in the last episode the show

"Imagine a Neon Genesis Evangelion in which dating the right girl is more important than saving the world...
Harried, harassed and harangued—that's Shinji Ikari's life in a nutshell. Still, his days are fairly typical for a Tokyo teenager: he's got a pushy pal in Asuka who rudely rouses him whenever he's running late for school, and he's surrounded by the standard assortment of high school goofballs. In fact, everything's just as you'd expect...until one day when Shinji jumps into a strange girl he's never seen before, and she promptly accuses him of peeking up her skirt! But that's not the worst of it. Strange dreams have been haunting his sleep lately—dreams of a robotic 'other' just beyond the horizon..."

Its gotten some good reviews and would probually only be not worth it for people who haven't seen the show (all 1% of you)

Amazon.co.uk have it for £5.20

while play.com have it for £5.49 (though as usualy they're saying its out now but are awaiting stock)

I read a chapter in Newtype when I was in America, but I didn't like it much :\
I guess I was too fixated on the 'regular' eva to enjoy a new approach to it.
I'll probably end up buying it though xD

I bought it as soon as I realised it was released. I think I read up to something like volume 3 on the fan translations.

Is this the UK name for Neon Genesis Evangelion: Girlfriend of Steel 2 manga.

I wonder if gainax would make this as a spinoff to NGE?

It's based on the second game. I wouldn't mind seeing an OAV of it actually. Something like five or six episodes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it fan-made? So it's just going to be another persons take on the personalities of the Eva characters... kinda like filler, if you will. And much as I liked Eva, I don't know that I'd especially want to see the characters in a school romance setting, ep 26 (?) aside as that had a purpose.

Sure it's official, I just meant as in not written by any of the original team that produced Eva. So like some guy just enjoyed the series and wrote this, which later got picked up by whoever.

It's an officially unofficial manga that was made official but the transition it made from being unofficially official to officially unofficial came when the official officiates decided to make it officially unofficially official.

This looks good. It's about time they released some eva stuff from a different perspective - it will be good for me to have some new eva knowledge to soak up, rather than just obsessing over what has already been done. - also it will aid in my quest to complete Iron maiden 2nd.

Well it depends... Maybe... then again maybe not. My opinion is usually not the popular one so me saying 'buy it it's great!' may leave you with disappointment.
