The search is on to find the world’s biggest NEO Magazine fan! Whether you’re the proud owner of every issue, or use the publication’s pages to add some Japan-inspired flair to the walls of your room, NEO Magazine wants to hear from you!

If the above sounds like you or someone you know, submit photographic evidence that you or they are worthy of the ‘Ultimate NEO Fan’ moniker to  mail@neomag.co.uk before midnight on 10 June. The publication’s staff will then judge all the entries and deem one lucky super fan as the winner.

The winning entry will not only gain the honour and respect that comes with being part of NEO history by having their photo featured in NEO’s 100th issue, but they will also be presented with a very special lifetime subscription to the magazine as well!

Editor of NEO Magazine, Gemma Cox, commented, “We love the enthusiasm of our readers, and we want to find the biggest NEO fan of all to bestow upon them the ultimate prize of a lifetime subscription! If you think you're NEO’s best fan, prove it! We can't wait to see your photos!”

“Reaching 100 issues is a dream come true for any magazine, and we owe our success entirely to our readers, for supporting us along the way! Launching the search for NEO's biggest fan is just one of the ways we'd like to celebrate such a long run, and say thank you all for reading and taking this journey with us.”

So get creative and be part of NEO history!

I'm curious, is Neo putting money into AUKN as of late?

Seems Neo is being pushed more so on these forums since MyM came about.

Uh, with several regular posters here writing for and plugging MyM a fair bit? Seems more likely NEO have been shocked into getting off their arse and actually doing stuff because they have competition now. That and Genkina's doing a good job of staying on top of the news; the text in the OP is fairly obviously a press release.

I'm missing a few volumes for various reasons.. but I don't think I'm doing too badly, right?

I can't recall that much plugging MyM wise. The only reason I brought it up, is the boost in Neo topics being made, good on Neo if it feels the need to boost competition but either way I feel the same should be done with MyM.

Also yes, I can tell it's a press release.

It's not like AUKN is the BBC with a responsibility to be impartial though. There have been some fairly critical posts about MyM (even from an admin) over at UKA and even a news item on the whole "possible theft of NEO subscriber data" situation - There hasn't been anything like that here. News about MyM can't be manufactured if they aren't doing anything newsworthy either.

I think it is because MyM doesn't do much in the way of press releases, whereas NEO is often promoting itself. MyM appears to spread more on word-of-mouth (its cheaper).

Nope, they just added us to their press release list (or maybe they realised they needed one as MyM came out). MyM would get the same attention, if they cared to send us press releases as well, provided it's worth mentioning.

Not only regular posters, but also some of our volunteers write / wrote for MyM and are plugging them over here as well.

Perhaps there is a lack of topics clearly stating the plug to MyM then? Anyway, whoever thinks it's missing, feel free to add. It's an almost free forums. And by almost free I mean, we will censor illegal stuff and kick trolls butts, but other than that, you can post whatever you like.

We are not impartial. We will always side with the true fans of anime, unless they are stupid ;)
WRT MyM articles, truth is, we've had only one or two press releases from them and nothing afterwards. I'm happy to post their press releases when it's relevant.

As for the "possible theft of NEO subscriber data situation", unfortunately it is not something we could confirm. I rather not post something that is harmful to a company, unless we source it from a responsible source.

What I can tell you for sure is that until earlier this year, NEO didn't have press releases. Mym sent us only a couple press releases and if memory serves me well, we only published the first one, which announced their debut, the other press releases were only announcing a new issue on sales.

As for NEO, they are actually pushing competitions and also organising events, for instance there was one they organised with Japan Underground which brought Hitt to the UK, but as we don't publish on J-Pop/Rock, this one was disregarded.
