Need MP3 Player Advice

I'll be working a lot at my summer job for quite a few hours per week, and since I'll be working shifts, night shifts are inevitable. I want to watch videos in order to keep me awake during quiet periods of not much needing done. I'd like something that's good with music and video, and other features like internet and stuff aren't a big deal to me. Can anyone recommend any good MP3 players?

I can't remember, do you irrationally hate Apple? If not, get an iPhone/Pod. I had a Mini back in the day and it was okay, but it broke so I swore off 'em for a while though now I pretty much love them again.

I irrationally hate apple! =P more for iTunes being awkward and fussy about being on more than one pc than any active hatre for the ipod itself. I just like stuff that works with what I have i.e. WMP

For music, get an ipod classic. I used to be an Apple hater, but I have to admit they finally got it right with the current ipod classic.

For video, get an Archos. Nothing does video better at that size.

I'm happy with my Sony one. It's drag and drop stuff so it's easy to arrange stuff, and the battery lasts for ages (30 hours or something).

For my one video's a bit more fiddly as it need to be MP4 I think (I never really figured it out). Also the screen is a little small, but is still of excellent quality.

Mine is a Sony Walkman from Tottenham Ct. Road. Got is for under £90.
It's been really reliable, even when it got hit by a Roman pot and got rained on, etc. Even even though it has no case^^
Downloaded tracks from Galbadia Hotel, Gendou's Mp3s and realitylapse.com, but also got quite a lot of original albums too.

I should have mentioned I'd like something with a decent storage capacity, so the Sony Walkmans aren't my thing.

I rationally hate Apple and Steve Jobs, but that's a topic for another day. I do have an iPod Video, but it's giving up the ghost (skips, slow responses and crashes). I'm not against iPods, but I'd rather have an alternative if there's a better one.

I did have an Archos 605 very briefly but it barely worked (that's what I get for buying a discounted display product from Germany). Are the newer ones better than that particular model?

20GB not enough? What kind of storage are you after? Thing is, with the Walkman you don't really need loads of storage because its so quick (and easy) to put things on it, and take 'em off.

I've got an Archos 504, an older model than yours. It has served me well through 150 eps of One Piece, all of Sailor Moon, Fullmetal Alchemist, Azumanga Daioh, Amenaideyo both serieses, all for seasons of Reboot, and probably some other stuff too. It was also good at music too, but nowhere near as good as my ipod classic now is.

There's plenty of customisation where memory is concerned with Creatives/Walkmen, you can select bigger capacity if you need it. You just talk to the vendors.

If Apple have started making Ipods which you can open up yourself, get one. If not, buy something that isn't guaranteed to become a useless brick within two years instead.

I researched quite a lot before I got what I got, and I forget most of what I learnt though the thing that sticks in my mind is that when something is really awesome - it lacks storage capacity. That might have changed by now but I think if you want something with large enough memory your going to be hard strung to see past Apple's stuff. It might well become outdated soon, but probably no more than any other MP3/4 device -- people seem to always know what the latest Apple device is, they don't for anything else, therefore it becomes outdated as soon as the advertising begins. So, er, yeah.

I think the Walkman was indeed one of the very awesome things that lack space.
