The new version of Cobra basically just picked up the manga where the original series stopped after a mere 28 years. Admittedly, it wasn't hard given how episodic the series is.
Moyashimon Returns also follows directly on from the original series, despite a five year gap (and an iffy live-action version).
As for things I'd like to see... Well, the cancelled Production I.G. version of Appleseed would have been far more welcome than that recent series. It might be okay, but I have yet to bring myself to watch it, so horrible does the CGI look.
Fujiko seems to have shown that it's possible to put a fresh twist on an old favourite, so a new version of City Hunter would be nice. That ludicrous Korean thing certainly suggests there's still interest in the old juggernaut. I know there was Angel Heart, but it was a bit half-arsed as they clearly couldn't decide whether it was a reboot or a sequel.
Also Cyber City something something.
